Finally figured out a sleek way to get onboard compressor under passenger seat with no drilling into the Jeep and only using factory holes as install points

Had to fabricate my own bracket, but it turned out great. All I need to do now is anodize or powder coat the bracket.

Key points:
  1. I used factory harness hole in firewall to thread the compressor harness through (you do have to make the battery portion of the harness longer)

  2. I used the 2 rear bolts for the seat attachment to attach my custom bracket. I attached the compressor directly to the bracket. I made the bracket with 1/4 offset so the nuts on the bottom side would set directly on the carpet giving the bracket a perfectly flat install.
  3. I used the existing trim covers to route the harness up to the firewall
I hope this helps others because I couldn’t find an under seat bracket for the single anywhere.

Very interested in your setup...It looks like you used the single ARB and not the dual, are you satisfied with the pump up times? Anyway, how did you route the harness from under the passenger seat to the battery? Through the floor or along the inside? Did you connect the purple ARB wire to an AUX switch and which AUX. How thick is your mounting plate?

I really like the under seat location and just don't think I need a dual ARB compressor.

THANKS!!! Paul

Paul,
No issues with air time (extra 45-60 seconds wasn’t worth the extra dollars). Related to routing, I routed directly under the carpet (under the seat) to the side trim (at base of the door) then up to and through the firewall. I put a protective sleeve on the harness and forced it through the existing main harness that goes through the firewall. From that point I had to extend the battery wires but the auxiliary wire length is fine

For the bracket, I used .062” thick aluminum

One more thing Paul, I would have to go back and remember what color I connected, but I have a JL so the auxiliary switches were already wired all I needed to do was to connect the ARB auxiliary wire to the factory wiring for auxiliary switches

If you want to talk live at some point, let me know and I can be available. some of this is easier to talk about than type instructions

I’m about to purchase an ARB single and mount it like this guy recommends. Seems like a great place to me. Yeah it’ll get dirty but who cares, so does everything else under there.

This spot won’t work with the 2.0, at least I couldn’t see how. It’s a great option for the 3.6. I did something similar to @CDwest7254 but his looks much better. I used this as an opportunity to weld some steel together to make a mount. It’s ugly but functional.

Worst part was dealing with the crazy wiring bundle and getting wires through the firewall. I may install a rear air locker in the future so I decided to keep all the locker wiring options, so I just taped up all the unused connections and tucked them away for the future.

If you never plan on air lockers I would cut all that stuff out and really simplify the wires. @Jeep Generation has a great video showing how he did this, though his is slightly different because he has the dual. Reading some of the ARB threads on here can be confusing because the wire colors are different between the single and dual.

I’m just glad mine is done. I’ve had it for weeks and was dreading the install.

Excuse my ignorance. Does removing that engine cover pose any risk? If i had engine problems for some odd reason would Jeep be like yea... you took the cover off?

No it's a cosmetic cover and add's a little bit of insulation to keep noise down. Doesn't have any effect on the engines function.

Curious if anyone else has tried the under hood mounting option for the single ARB?
Looking for a good under-hood location for the single compressor.

@CDwest7254 - did you end up powder coating your bracket yet?
Would you considering fabricating another? Will pay for time + material since you did the work of figuring it out! Let me know, thanks!

I tried it. It works but it’s VERY close to touching the hood liner. Probably not an issue though. I ended up going with the fender mount only because I wanted the connection outside of the engine bay and didn’t feel like running it from above the engine.

Not yet...it cost me $100 to get it done (local shop). I drew it up and he made it for me so cost was labor and material. Let me know
