Probably depends on make model but a detailed records, binders or notes definitely has netted me more money. It would be tough to sell some cars without freaky detailed records. It's a lot more important in the enthusiast car world. Not to say the Wrangler is not a enthusiast car/truck. It definitely is. The Wrangler crew is just more forgiving. lol.

Again ill probably keep this in the family for a long time (my oldest kids are already fighting for it at only 14 & 10 yrs old lol)

BUT, If I was looking at (2) wranglers for-sale-by-owners:

(1) had no records of anything, slightly modified @ $15k
(1) had detailed records of everything, slightly modified @ $20K

I'd personally pick the latter of the two. Maybe it's because I do it, I don't know.

But for me, that scenario would hold true with nearly any used vehicle purchase.

Anytime I've purchased a used vehicle finding an owner that does this is like finding a unicorn but if/when I find it, I jump on it.

Will be looking for a used vehicle for my oldest soon enough and you can bet I'll but looking for this haha

I have paid more for a well kept car with detailed records. Not having records for a used car is a deal breaker for me personally.

They are extremely hard to find for some reason in present day with documentation so I have had to take the plunge a few times and (1) of those times was a bad decision for me. Won't happen again lol

This is a great forum. The Wrangler attitude is a lot more fun. Wrangler owners are a lot more stress free and easy going.

I write OCI in the owner manual on my newer vehicles that are under warranty.
And I have a sheet of paper tacked to my shop wall with oil change mileage for quick reference for me. My wife is always playing with buttons and resetting the vehicle oil life.

I do all my own repair on vehicles not under warranty and do not keep receipts or dates when what was fixed.

We have 4 vehicles, 6 snowmobiles, 1 UTV, 2 ATVs, plus all outdoor power equipment. I just fix when needed. And write oil change dates on oil filters of OPE engines.

Never been in military.

I am a Building Mechanic being prepped for Building Operations Manager, I have log books for every piece of Equipment at work...so it is only Natural that I have a log book for my JL
It includes washes, maintenance, inspections.
My wife also thinks I am crazy, but she is 100% correct, I am completely bat shit bonkers.
I even log when I put the top down lol

My binder is a 4", because I log shit on a daily basis

Date, time, location...I heard a noise today...smelled a smell, will monitor lol

I'm with you on this. If I were buying a Jeep from you and you showed me those logs I'd just feel better that you took care of every little thing that came up.

I keep all my records scanned in and in a folder on my computer.
Also keep pictures of all the modifications.
Nice an organized and I will never lose them.

i keep a small 3x5" waterproof note pad with all service and aftermarket transactions.

i keep it in the pouch with the owners manuals

Yes, I agree in certain situations documentation is everything if I had purchased a 1970 hemi cuda the documentation is totally valuable or some exotic Ferrari absolutely. But I’m just a normal guy working a normal job buying normal cars and the buyer of a used jeep wrangler through my experience doesn’t care about any detailed service records they shop price ! and price only.

As retired military (Navy) I keep maintenance logs on all of my vehicles and also log every trip to the gas station. I track my gas usage, MPG, and dollars spent at the pump.

Lol I keep my socks rolled (not ankle but calf) and most T-shirts folded nicely in the drawer

I have a multi-tab spreadsheet for all maintenance for all vehicles. I even record my battery load tests so I can see how fast the battery degrades over time. Another tab with the VIN and various parts I order. When I traded in my Mazda for the Wrangler and was pushing more for my trade, I produced the spreadsheet which showed even when the wipers were changed and tires rotated...they met my trade number afterwards.
