The chalk method is not the most accurate way of checking tire pressures. It would be best to take several tire temps across the tread block with a probe type pyrometer. That is what we autocrossers and road racers do to see how the tire responds to various road/driver inputs so you can adjust your tire pressures or your alignment settings.
The most accurate is actually measuring tread depth across the tread depth every rotation. But as I already mentioned there are tires out there that are designed to run on the crown at higher pressure so neither tire temp or tread wear measurements work for them.

Why does this feel like the start of a 100 page tire pressure thread? 🤓
I’m going to go with a reasonable tire pressure and move on. I already did the 911 auto cross thing in a previous life including owning an early RSR replica “track car”. This Jeep isn’t that.

This is what you get with a OE 315/70R-17 at 32psi

And this is the same size Duratrac at 23PSI

When out for a ride today. While I was thinking about it decided to record temp and tire pressures.
Starting COLD pressure was 24psi 45min at highway speed at 85f ambient temperature the tire pressure went up to 26psi. On warmer days I’ve seen it get to 27psi.

Now that’s interesting. Same tires and when I gave them my VIN, they recommended 25 psi. Normally only go down to 28 to keep my dash light off.

On trails I try to air down to 13psi.
Did you give them weight of your vehicle? Just a thought lol bc this is my first time with 37’s(Baja boss m/t’s)…on this jlu rubicon(also a new realm)….and they said 30psi cold…I’m running kmc grenade crawls and I can afford to safety air down to low single digits…LONG STORY SHORT…save the headache and do a chalk test on your tires(air +/- from there) everyone’s setup is different and these tire tech reps work isn’t biblical…just like tire wear everyone gets better or worse depending on a-z factors #chalkitupandroll

Nah I only gave my VIN. Assume they pulled up curb weight but 28 PSI is what I run and thats pretty close to what others have been instructed to use. They are wearing good and I’m ok with where they’re at.
