I am going out to Silverton, CO, and Moab, UT, in August and was wondering what the minimum safe air pressure I could run in my tires. I drive an Unlimited Rubicon with factory wheels and 33" tires. Also, some of the trails you have to drive a few miles on pavement between them, do I have to air up and then air down again?

For just a few miles you should be fine. I would not drive highway speed. 18-20 psi is about as low as I go on my stock tires. Don't want to break the bead on a trail.
I am headed out to Silverton area in July. Beautiful part of Colorado.

I generally run about 14-16 and never run more than 1-2 miles of pavement. Others in my group go down to 8 without any bead breaks. Lots of different inflaters are carried with Vair being the most common. We often drive 15 miles of gravel road before we can get to the Jeep trails. The ride at 16 vs 32 psi is night and day different. Don't be afraid to go low.

I also come down to 15 on stock tire/wheel. One person in my group goes down to 10. Remember that the pressure will rise as the tire heats up, so I end up around 19 after a little while and the guy at 10 ends up at around 13.

I run 12-13 off road and 28 on, when in Moab or Ouray air down for first trail, air up at the end of the trip after last trail, never lost a bead or any other issue.

run MTRs on both JL & FJ. Have on board air in both.
