Ratbert: did your dealer negotiate on the AEV JL370 kit, or did you pay full AEV sticker price for that? Thanks. I have a diesel JLUR on the way and I’m trying to decide if I want to send to AEV (via the dealer) or just have the dealer add on what I want (they’re authorized AEV). I’m not sure I need new gearing with the diesel. I’ll do 37” KO2s. What’s your opinion on your regear? Otherwise, my JL will be exactly a JL370.
Yes, I ended up paying full price for the AEV side of the deal, but I got 4.5% below invoice on the JLURD itself.

One big difference in adding the AEV pieces afterwards is, from what I understand, that you only get a 1 year / 12k mile warranty on that instead of the same warranty that's on the rest of the Jeep. Another difference is that it's not an AEV Jeep, which theoretically will have a significant impact on resale value.

I haven't compared mine to a JLURD with stock gears and 37s, so it's difficult to comment on that. All I can say is that I have no complaints over the torque. It's definitely not quick, but it's never hunting for a gear and is as happy in 8th as any other gear. Gut feel is that it's a really good match, especially when rock crawling, which we tend to do as often as possible. I took yesterday off from work and we did Red Cone. Pretty damn cool run that frightened that shit out of my wife.

The only AEV option that I regret getting is the fuel cell. I doubt that we'll ever use it and it completely blocks the rearview mirror. I imagine that I'll be upgrading to the stiffer 3.0" suspension too since my rig is so damn heavy.

Does anyone know if you can fit AEV Borah rims with 315-70/17 tires on a stock Rubicion without a lift without any issues?

Anyone running the current AEV Borah wheels on a JL? I’ve been told they stick out a little. I don’t hate that but wondering if the version designed for JKs (and its offset) causes any other issues on JLs?

Also, the back up camera does not quite fit through the center of the wheel. Anyone solved for this?

I have a JL with Feb delivery date and wondering if I should wait for the JL version Borahs that are coming out in a couple months.

Any advice is appreciated.

The Xtreme Recon flares would be ideal.

cool rig, half doors are sweet!! Thanks for the pics.
Thought about those but I’ve seen others that cover from the front to bottom. It’s a mall crawler obviously ? so I actually use it more for the cool convertible than what it should be used for. ??‍♂

See post #302 in this thread for updates.

For those curious about the JK version, I spoke to AEV directly about this today (January 6th 2023) and in the last two years when the JL version was released they updated the JK version to have the same lug profile and center bore as the JL version. The only difference between the newer JK and JL Borah wheels in the offset per AEV. Older JK versions have the smaller lug pockets and center bore, hub size is identical between the JK and JL so both versions are hub centric.

I actually placed an order today for the Onyx JK Borah wheels to replace my Galaxy Black JL versions. I wish I could have got the same Galaxy Black color, but AEV said they are only producing the Onyx color moving forward and these are limited availability (read: being discontinued soon). For anyone curious the Galaxy Black color is MOPAR PXR paint code. I wanted a wider track width and not a fan of running spacers, although I considered it as a cheaper route. Hope this helps.

See post #302 in this thread for updates.

I can officially confirm since my JK AEV Borah wheels arrived today that the center caps are in fact smaller than the JL ones, contradicting what the AEV rep told me over the phone. I have reached out to the rep to get some clarification. I also test fit one of the JK wheels and it clears on the AEV JL tire carrier without issue, but its certainly close. The JL lugnuts also fit in the wheels just fine but you do need a thin wall socket. Again, contradicting what I was told by the AEV rep. I should also note that all five JK Borah wheels were manufactured October 25th, 2022 so they are the 'updated' design as far as I can tell. I will update this once I hear back from the AEV rep.

Awesome pics. In the sunlight so you can actually see. Taken at correct angle to see the poke of the wheel. I can appreciate anyone taking the time to post pics (good and bad) but you take excellent pics!

Planning on using the OE JL ones since they work with the thin wall socket I have. Once I get them mounted ill post up comparison pictures.
