Own a 2022 Jeep Wrangler JLU Sport. Went to go buy 5W-30 oil today and the container felt a little light on so I grabbed the one behind it….after putting it in, I realized it said 5W-20. Am I screwed?

Edit: 3.6L engine. Live in New Jersey

You've the 2.0T in your Jeep? I ask because 5W-30 is the sole oil specification for that engine.

Personally, I'd take one for the team and replace it with the correct weight. It's up to you if you want to do the same.

I would recommend just draining it out and refilling it with the correct oil. Not the end of the world though!

I assume its cold in NJ right now? 5W is the viscosity for the Winter. So, you're fine. Change it before it warms up if you're really worried.
can't predict the weather here lol. One day it is, one day it isn't. But typically cold until late spring

thats a plot twist lol. I used 5w-30 the last time I changed my oil. but Im reading that -20 is suitable for the 3.6l
No harm no foul using 5w30 last time. Use 0w20 from now on.

Use that year round!

Proper fill is exactly 5 qts. of oil.

Isn't 0w20 specified for the 3.6 now? If that's the case, 5w20 really isn't that far off. It's still 20-weight oil. 5w20 was also the previous spec for the 3.6. GO figure.
This, it'll be fine. The only reason they specify that lightweight oil is for fuel economy reasons, you don't actually need to run oil that light. I don't know what oil is in my Jeep right now because it's whatever the dealer put in that I bought it from. What I can say is that at 15,000 miles it's getting Motul 5W30 put in it. And that's what it'll get from now on as well.
