Where do I find these visor clips? Also, what failure point are you looking to avoid with the clip? My visor failure was from the post that nearly dropped out of the hole. I could jam it back in if the other side was clipped in place. Once I turned it down, it flopped out again.
These days there are el-cheapo knock offs (Mostly coming from China) of the original, Made in the USA, TACCOM visor clip offering.. but I would avoid those knock offs. I would not install such a knock off if you gave it to me for free.. Fitment issues, reliability concerns and more.

If your, visor's are not broken all you need is the single screw visor clip. You do not need the double offering. Even TACCOM's owner will tell you this.

Suggest you buy this offering:

My '23 is the same way. I took one of them off to find piddly little metal spring tab things holding them in on the other side. Researched and found it to be normal. One of the few things I've found myself scratching my head over.

I have to say that I was very impressed when I contacted Tim, the owner of TACCOM, about the poor fit of my Chinese knockoff visor reinforcement clips (in my defense, I did not realize that they were Chinese knockoffs until after ordering them).

Not only did Tim offer some helpful advice, he offered to send me a set of his TACCOM clips, free of charge!

And I'm sure that when those little metal spring tab things fail, and they will, they will cost only $63.27, each, to replace with the identical and equally weak MOPAR part.

My thoughts exactly!

The best easiest fix for these visors is do the cotter pin fix. I did mine a couple years ago it’s awesome. And free. There’s a whole thread about it. Those bracket things on the outside suck they don’t really work. They just keep the visor from falling out after it’s broke. It doesn’t fix it. The cotter pin fix fixes it and it functions better than new with no visible parts

22's and 23's per reports from a couple of owner's of same here and a few owner's on other forum's, all mention this movement... movement, that is not seen in earlier JL's and JT's.

I have read no one posting issues lets say with that movement or that they or the dealer had a remedy for that movement.

The bracket that your knock off visor clip is bolstering, is the same bracket found on 2022 and 2023's is the same as is on the earlier model year JL and JT's.

If I remember correctly a forum member here, actually hit the visor so hard doing something, that he broke the visor off at (that moveable section) and did not break the bracket that you and I and other's are bolstering with the a visor clip.
I have a '20 and noticed the movement around the bracket/mount from day 1. Both passenger and driver sides move some. I thought the screws were loose too so I tried tightening them. They were already very tight. So I don't think it's a 22/23 thing. Hasn't hurt anything so far. I am going to be installing the Taccom clips to reinforce the visor post though.

@oldcjguy

I have followed forum posts here very closely since early 2018. It's just been over the last few months that guys/gals have come here mentioning the movement in that particular spot on the visor.

Regardless, of what JL model year's are impacted, we do know that not all JL's have that excessive movement.

Sun visor clips will not help that movement but will indeed bolster up the visor bracket itself so the bracket will not be prone to breaking..

Let's face it though, you lower the visor, extend it out on the slider rod and you get to rough with the visor.... and break it will.

Good that you are getting the TACCOM visor clips. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

The sun visor clips appear to work.. to do the job... As no one has ever come here and said that even with the visor clips stalled, that their sun visor bracket broke.

Agree about the model years. I have this problem in my ‘21 as well, but nothing has actually broken…yet.

I just went to check if the base of the sun visors in my Jeep, as illustrated in post #1, were a bit wobbly. They are so.

I don't use the visors and therefore had to have a look. Being tall, I can't use them since they functionally block half of the windscreen when lowered...and my natural line of sight is already near the top of the glass.

I've actually thought about removing the visors to gain an extra inch or so of top-end visibility. I've not yet done so because (a) my wife uses the mirror on her visor, and (b) if hers is removed, she might forget and then inadvertently pull down the soft top release lever while the vehicle is in motion. I'd prefer that not happen. :)

Where do I find these visor clips?
Here's one option.

I hardly ever use the sun visor. One of the best mods I did was have the top 5 inches of the windshield tinted. It is great, harsh sun tilt my head up a little, bright lights on from other drivers, no problem tilt my head up a little. It was like $40 to get it done at a local shop. Normal driving, I look under the tint and a slight tilt of the head put me looking through the tint. At first when I drove out of the shop I was not crazy about it. In a day or so, I started to love it. Now there is no way that I would not have my Jeep windshield with out it. Truly a game changer cheap mod.

That is an interesting idea, Wibornz! I've seen those kind of top-of-the-windshield tintings before, but never one quite as wide (tall?) as yours there. I like the idea, though!

I do have to wonder if having that wide a tint strip on the windshield might goad some cop or state trooper into giving a ticket for it, though, as windshields are never supposed to have aftermarket tinting on them (which didn't stop me from already having mine tinted to 70% transmittance, LOL).

I checked my 23 Willys 2dr and it also has the same "wobble". It isn't coming from a loose screw. It almost seems like whatever it mounts to is loose, or designed to allow this movement. Never seen anything like it on any other vehicle in my 45 years of driving.

Nor have I, Willys4Me. The sun visor in my 1996 Ram pickup is as solid as the day I bought it, and I've used it countless times, both forward and to the side.
