I'm pretty sure they no longer need your key.No, i just use a Faraday pouch for the fob when not in use. These days is rare to get a vehicle stolen without the key or a tow truck. However, there are ways to clone your key if they capture the fob rf with an antenna so the Faraday pouches (like 10 bucks on Amazon) prevent that.
I use a faraday box at home but I was thinking this might also help and be useful when parked at stores and what not.No, i just use a Faraday pouch for the fob when not in use. I have a switch on my tj from Off road only that is really cool, but the tj had no chip in the key and was super simple to steal im sure compared.
The jl is so complex (electronics wise) id hate to add in much more to its overly sensitive system. I did add an after market remote start, but that's it. Tazer jl has a pin code with steering wheel buttons you can set before your can start your jeep, but i think i heard all the thief has to do is unplug it if they realize you have the tazer. Still if you already own one, why not use it.
They need to get the code from your key, not the key itself. They can do this by just getting close. I've seen surveillance video where they stretch out a large loop type antenna at somebody's front door, then start the car in the drive.I'm pretty sure they no longer need your key.
Looks like it would be one layer of protection.
Thieves can program a new 'Key' and drive away!! Mine was stolen just before Xmas from a hotel, they didn't use a tow, video showed them pick the lock, get in then shortly after drive away. No, i just use a Faraday pouch for the fob when not in use. Check out this video, go to the 6:50 mark to skip the chatter and watch how quickly the guy is in and programs the new 'Key'.I'm pretty sure they no longer need your key.
This is why I have 5 layers of protection.Thieves can program a new 'Key' and drive away!! Mine was stolen just before Xmas from a hotel, they didn't use a tow, video showed them pick the lock, get in then shortly after drive away.

Ya it is crazy, I would hope all of your layers would be enough to get thieves to give up.This is why I have 5 layers of protection.
Looks like I need to remove the door key locks also.
Haha it takes about the same time to put that on as it does for the thieves to take them off apparently!Maybe it’s time to resurrect my old club steering wheel lock
