Yeah you have to update your research. The new TRX trucks are being stolen in under 2 minutes by reprogramming a used key bought on eBay. Guys are waiting the 8 months for their trucks on order and getting them stolen in weeks after they finally get them. Just hit YouTube there is a ton of them.
They do the same thing with the hellcat chargers and challengers. It’s way too easy for someone that knows what they’re doing. Gone before you have time to realize what happened

Definitely haven’t researched it, just basing on what I’ve personally seen entered in as stolen. So do the JL’s have the same vulnerability?

I use to live in a gated community and my JL was stolen in a matter of minutes. At the time, I still had the guardian service but it was useless because they pulled the radio. I was fortunate enough to get my rig back with just two busted windows and a busted radio. Some things I did to mitigate any future issues was purchase faraday bags to store the keys at night, an old school club, an aftermarket alarm system, and I also dropped an apple airtag in it. But like others have said, if they are motivated and know what they are doing, it will get swiped unfortunately.

I just installed this and it's amazing! It's not cheap but neither was the rig

How clean was the wiring install? I know each installer is different but I'm considering this for when I want to leave the doors off for the weekend or something. I'm probably more at risk for the cat converter being snatched though.

Where exactly do people place the kill switch? Do they randomly place it so that it could be difficult to find by someone else? If that is the case, do you have to get underneath your jeep each time you park it?

My installer I used is a Master installer, he and his assistant lay out all their tools and arrange them in order and lay out their materials. Honestly I dare anyone to find the wiring it is THAT good. They are all black wires and just fade into the stock harnesses. There is no hacking or drilling into anything that will pervert your Jeep. This guy does all HIGH END vehicles, Lambos, Bugattis, you name it he has installed in it. He was telling me he has some high end clients with private showroom garages and they hand him the keys and come back when it's all done.

It's a cap that you take with you, no actual switch. And it's mounted where you can't see it in normal vehicle operation or cleaning. You have to know where it is.

Whoa. all these decades I thought it was literally a 2-pole switch that got cut into a wire somewhere. Never knew it was something different. Thanks for enlightening me!

You can actually use a simple 2 pole switch...but it has to be high quality and rated for whatever amperage the circuit is.

Like some others have said, if a thief really wants your vehicle, he's going to get it. A flatbed with a winch will drag anything away.
If you want to discourage a somewhat less determined bandit, I have used this method with success, so far.
With a fuel injected engine, disabling the fuel pump eliminates the possibility of starting the vehicle and driving it away. The engine will crank, but it won't start. I use this method in my occasionally street driven race car, which has no ignition key or FOB, only a Battery On switch and a starter button.
To disable a fuel pump, you simply need to interrupt the power going to the pump when the ignition is turned on. I use a high starting current 50A relay as the interrupt switch, and control the ground signal to the relay with a magnetic proximity switch that is hidden somewhere handy but is basically invisible.
I like to mount the magnetic switch in a hidden location but the actual surface can be in plain sight as there are no telltale holes. I've put these switches under headliners, in consoles, inside sunvisors, behind dash plastics, there are lots of places if you think creatively. Since it's just supplying a ground, there are no safety issues or fusing of the switch required.
To activate the relay, you simply put a small magnet over the hidden switch, it closes and sends a ground to the relay coil, and it completes the circuit. When you need to enable the fuel pump interrupt, you remove the magnet and take it with you.
I like this method, because some thieves will search for hidden switches, but they typically don't carry a magnet with them.

My one-year free Sirius Guardian just expired and they wanted $25 month, for what? to start my Jeep from anywhere, find it, or look and unlock it, now if they have that technology, why can't they add a notice of vehicle moving and a kill switch from your phone!
Now THAT I would pay $25 a month for.
Yes!!! I also do not understand why Jeep would put two cameras on a vehicle and not have them work as a security feature. I shouldn’t have had to buy a dash cam.

Thanks to this thread I’m even further away from deciding on a kill switch/GPS tracker. ? The more research I do the less I’m sure which to pick.
