Its a great way to prevent/slow down a thief. I make those harnesses for the TRX but they work on the newer Stellantis products(WK2, Charger, Challenger, RAM, JLs) as well.
It would have saved me some time had I known. Maybe on the 2dr I’m trying to convince my wife to get.

No, i just use a Faraday pouch for the fob when not in use. These days is rare to get a vehicle stolen without the key or a tow truck. However, there are ways to clone your key if they capture the fob rf with an antenna so the Faraday pouches (like 10 bucks on Amazon) prevent that.

I have a switch on my tj from Off road only that is really cool, but the tj had no chip in the key and was super simple to steal im sure compared.

The jl is so complex (electronics wise) id hate to add in much more to its overly sensitive system. I did add an after market remote start, but that's it. Tazer jl has a pin code with steering wheel buttons you can set before your can start your jeep, but i think i heard all the thief has to do is unplug it if they realize you have the tazer. Still if you already own one, why not use it.
No need of the key. Normally access behind glove box is enough.
