A quick update... All of the components ordered have been received except one, the oil filter adaptor, which is scheduled to arrive on March 6. The engine is replaced with new one completely installed. I asked Jeep Cares for assistance in tracking down and expediting parts and they appear to be doing that. I also asked to have the original engine returned to me and Jeep said that can be done. for a fee I called the dealership who is performing the work and left a message that I want the the engine returned to me but they haven't called me back yet. I also thought it was fair to request an extended warranty.
And, everyone has still been great to deal with.

Are they charging you a core charge for the old engine?

Very cool - hopefully you can rebuild the broken 392 and really beef it up. When I had warranty work done, and I asked for the parts back, I was always told "no, because they need to see where the failure was." That was annoying because I have a '97 Blue and White Viper that had the ubiquitous side sill corrosion, and I wanted those sills back because they're now impossible to find.

Apparently they know what this failure was. :)
I want it because I think it belongs with the Jeep. I think it's terrible that it destroyed itself so quickly. I plan on owning it for a long time. I typically don't keep a vehicle for long but this one is so unique. The sound, the quickness and the look. Most people don't notice anything different about it and with the exhaust on quiet, you don't hear anything special and it drives normal if your inputs to the gas pedal are moderate. My Ocean Blue Moab got way more attention than the 392. So it blends in and totally stands out. And that depends if you are anywhere else or the lucky one to be in the drivers seat.

Do you know for sure what gave up in the engine? If it's something common, I'm hoping they do a recall....

Mine was a exhaust valve failure. Digging around most seem to be a valve failure resulting in catastrophic engine failure. Most likely an assembly issue. On my work order for the new motor it stated that the heads were removed and the valves and pistons inspected then put back together before install.

Sounds like you have a great dealership to work with.
That makes things flow a lot better.
Enjoy your new engine.

No way - pull it apart, have a full clean done, check all bearings, and then install some forged pistons when ready. Probably after a bore/hone job is done on the cylinders. Once the crank is determined to be OK (or replaced) then throw one of the Mopar Superchargers on it and get ready for some real fun. It'll take a few good tuners to get it right and make it safe, but when they do, you'll have a great engine.

The 3.0 L Stage 2 gen 5 Whipple used on the Drag Pak with the Billet 112mm throttle body and 8N fuel rails ?? ….. upgrade cam and rods ? ( not legal for use in Ca on public roadways)…..like everything else I want ! ?
