It probably goes without saying but there's a lot more on the Bronco for Jeep to compete with if they feel the need to. 35's is a good start but the interior needs a lot of work, starting with infotainment. Uconnect5 is coming but nostalgia or want of the customer for the "Jeep" badge will fade if the best you can do is an 8" screen uconnect5 (in a year or two) vs. the 12" on the Bronco.

It is amazing what many average consumers find important on a vehicle. Not engine. Not axles and differentials. Not off-road capability. Screen. Seats. Colors. Sure, purists will say "then that person shouldn't be buying a wrangler." But look at the Wrangler drivers next time you're heading to the grocery store. Not many are going off-roading.

Notwithstanding whether you like the look of the Bronco more or less than the Wrangler, as Broncos start rolling into showrooms and onto streets the JL is going to look dated especially if the UC5 rollout isn't until MY23.

Personally I hope Jeep keeps the smaller (relatively speaking) 8.4 as an option on the Wrangler. I really despise the current trend of screens screens and more screens in vehicles. It's incredibly unsafe, and it's only going to get worse.

That being said, the two areas where the JL really falls short of the Bronco (and many other competitors) for me* is in the colors and tech. I was previously shopping for a Silverado before I went JLU, and for ~the same price, I could get a Z71 with TONS of tech options (heads-up display, all of the "smart driving" assistance, heated/cooled seats, LED headlights, etc.). Plus there are at least 3 Silverado colors that I'd happily take, vs basically Granite and Hydro being the only JL colors that aren't either boring or "out there" (IMO).

*Me - I've driven GMC pickups since 2006, but never towed anything and have a bed cover on 98% of the time. I know zilch about suspension (other than lifts are cool) and all the off-road tech. I'm anxious to learn/experience it though.

But it was weird ordering a $46K Sahara and *still* having to pay extra for things like adaptive cruise control and LED lighting.

That's fair - I guess I should have been more broad. TECH is definitely lacking.

I hear you. I’m definitely looking at a Bronco but to get adaptive cruise you need the “Lux” pkg. and that requires a Badlands or above, I think, just for the privilege of spending more money.
Ford is not stupid and neither is Jeep. They know how to get you to spend juuuust a little bit more for what they know you want.
Really depends on what you are able to live with in either vehicle.

Maybe some insight into when 22 orders open -

The new Jeep Wrangler Xtreme Recon Package includes:
LT315/70R17C (35-inch) BF Goodrich KO2 All-Terrain Tires
17-inch x 8-inch Beadlock Capable Wheels
4.56:1 Axle Ratio
1.5-inch Factory Suspension Lift with uniquely tuned shocks
The results: Best-in-class approach angle, departure angle, ground clearance and water fording capability:
Approach angle – 47.4 degrees
Breakover angle – 26.7 degrees
Departure angle – 40.4 degrees
Ground clearance – 12.9 inches
Water fording – 33.6 inches
Customers can now order the Jeep Wrangler Xtreme Recon package on both Wrangler Rubicon 4-door and Wrangler Rubicon 392 models. Production at the Toledo (Ohio) Assembly Plant will start in August.

A new 4.88:1 axle ratio will be available on the Wrangler Rubicon. When paired with the six-speed manual transmission, this optional axle ratio delivers a best-in-class 100:1 crawl ratio for increased wheel torque and control when navigating off-road obstacles. The 4.88:1 axle ratio will be available for ordering later in 2021.
So hold on, I'm literally less than a week from placing an order on a JLUR (Diesel). Can I get this package?

Currently the only engine for the ‘Xtreme’ package is V6 e-torque in an auto. Went through it with my sales person yesterday as he tried configure a manual for me and that was the only drivetrain he could order.

Agh, ok, disappointing. I guess it’s a lift and bigger tires after the fact for me then.

Wait, it's not available for 2.0T?

Not yet but I'm assuming it will open up for the 2022's.
Talked to my dealer and you are correct. Right now it's only available for Rubicon 3.6Ls. And, if you order a 3.6L Rubicon the package is required, so looks like they are converting that line to Extreme Recon only.

Wow, while this is a cool package, I’m glad I ordered a few weeks back when it wasn’t forced on me. I would like slightly bigger tires, but I am good with the current Rubicon set up

The press release said that 4.88:1 Gear that goes with the 6MT will available later this year. I would assume that MT will be released later. I am not sure if that means later 2021 models or as 2022 built in December.

I tried to place an order today for a 2021 since I was tired of waiting for 2022 MY.

Apparently, Hellayella is no longer an option for 2021s as of a few days ago, I guess it’s a sign and I shall wait now for 2022 to see if yellow can be ordered again.
Whoa. My order went in late on Friday, 18th. I have a VIN so I assume they will paint it yellow.

Why would they drop a color? I luv yellow/black and all my good friends hate that color combo, so win-win.

There are hundreds and hundreds of JLU's running around this area and I've only saw like 10 Hellayella ones. That blue color is really sweet too.
