Thanks for all the input gang! I drive a friends 4 door JK quite a bit pulling a trailer for ballooning on the weekends. And also an old LJ that a crew member has. We don't get out on the highway at all with the ballooning we do, but I do like to get out of town occasionally. I feel the 2 door would fit my way of life better at this time. :like:

I've taken my '21 JL on two long road trips. First was 1200 miles and the other was 2000 miles round trips. It drove nicely with no issues whatsoever.

We’ve taken ours on 2 7-8000km road trips, one towing, one not. It can and will be blown around by high winds but so does our 4xE (less so but as much down to the weight as the wheelbase).

No vehicle is perfect for all things but if we were forced to only have one vehicle it would be the 2 door and we’d pick up a hardtop again so we had all options open to us.

nothing at all like a CJ.

CJ had front and rear leaf springs. Those aren't a thing anymore.

I've had every jeep since CJ (2 door only, I'm a purist) and the JL is of course the least jeep-like handling of all, it's more like a sports car than a jeep on the highway, in a good way.

I've not driven a 4 door JL but I can't imagine the ride and handling is much different, it would be more like a pickup than a car, so the 2 door should handle much better cause it's lighter and more maneuverable.

My 2 door JL is far and away better on the highway than the JK was. Once you’re in and pointed down the road, you'll never know that you're in a 2 door if you don't look back.

Plus, some claim the front seats in the 2 door are more comfortable, they are different than the 4 door seats. I have no experience to say one way or the other though.

I'm starting to lean away from a 4 door and looking into a 2 door. Since I'm the only one in the vehicle about 95% of the time, why do I need all the extra space? How is the 2 door JL on the highway? I don't expect it to have the ride of my Explorer, but also don't want to be wrestling it down the highway like my old CJ. I'm sure things have changed since those days, but how are they on the highway?
My 2dr goes down the highway exactly as I expect a solid axle vehicle with a short wheelbase to go - I love it!

When I get in our Yukon XL I’m very bored.

I drove my 2018 two door JL for 3 years in Germany. On the autobahn I routinely ran it at 80 (130kph). A handful of time I found the need to go as fast as 90. Granted the autobahn is pretty smooth in most places. It handled surprisingly well. I have driven my two door in the USA for extended periods up to 75 mph. I would echo many of the things already said here. It is the best handling wrangler ever. I have a four door JLU now and there isn’t much difference. It’s no sports car, but it’s pretty good. Once my kids are grown, I will go right back to a 2-door.

My 2dr 23 Wrangler rode great all the way from NYC to Moab, Sedona, Las Vegas, Silverton and back

Interesting. I thought Euro Rubicons got lower fenders, 32" tires and aero bumpers. Nice Jeeps BTW

Mine is a stock Rubicon. We do 55 and 65 (mph) highways all the time with top off or on, no problem except talking to each other (which is often times a nice break...) and we've taken some long road trips with big stretches on 70mph roads (top on/windows up) and they've been fun. My "passenger seat passenger" gets uncomfortable after a few hours, but also gets uncomfortable after a few hours in any vehicle - so I don't think it's the seat.
I'm probably taking curves a bit slower than the drivers behind me would prefer, but I'm still getting comfortable with it, so I don't care. It does get pushed by the wind, but it's just something to remember. It's not nearly as noticeable as it was in my Geo Tracker, which would get tossed around like a candy wrapper!
I haven't had it in the snow, but we've endured plenty of rain. The defogger isn't the best, but the tires and steering do just fine.

You'll be pushed around a little by heavy winds and passing semi's but I definitely wouldn't describe it as wrestling. I wouldn't describe it as unpleasant either.

I came into my 21 Willys from a 16 RAM 2500 crew cab 6'4" bed. The steering feel is similar to my RAM but not burdensome. My only complaint about highway driving my JL is that the Firestone MT's that are OEM are a little noisy. Other than that, road trips are a blast.

I've made more than a hand full of 10 hour interstate round trips from Indy to Michigan, two 26 hour interstate round trips from Indy to North Carolina, and one 7 day trip from Indy to multiple stops in Colorado and back to Indy in my JL.

I would say it's the best driving 2 door Jeep that has been manufactured to date and I'm already looking forward to my next road trip!
I agree! I find the 2-door to be fine on the highway. I have driven on 1200-mile RT that included some bad weather (heavy rain & wind)...Yes, you do feel the wind, and in heavy wind get bounced around some, but it's not a problem. I run the OEM Michelin all season tires which are very quiet on hwy and very good on the beach (air'ed down) The 2-door is very cool - I love it!

I've done some long road trips in a 2 door. Perfectly fine on the highway as long as you are reasonable with the speed. Definetly gets a little squirelly around 80.
