I'm starting to lean away from a 4 door and looking into a 2 door. Since I'm the only one in the vehicle about 95% of the time, why do I need all the extra space? How is the 2 door JL on the highway? I don't expect it to have the ride of my Explorer, but also don't want to be wrestling it down the highway like my old CJ. I'm sure things have changed since those days, but how are they on the highway?
I bought a ā€˜23 Wrangler Soort S 2.0 - traded in my ā€˜18 Audi Q5 - Needles to say- Big difference! I went from Lug to Rug. I am running Michelin Street tires. I did take it in at about 200 miles because it felt out of Alignment and it was. It steers much better now. I have gotten use to the rugged aspects, my only complaint is there isn’t much room esp if you have passengers. I bought a roof rack, and I have a trailer hitch so I can put one of those small hitch carriers on the back. It works well but it’s impossible to open the rear doo. Other than that I love it. And I am buying a Mopar headliner to quiet it down and lessen the heat transfer from the hard top.

Should be fine with the newer steel gearing box vs 18-20 aluminum steering gear box. You'll move a bit to wind but it ain't exhausting or scary if that's your concern. Range is short so expect lots of sprints which isnt a bad thing to get up and stretch. 4 door has all the convenience and practical factors. 2 door is wildly fun and great for 2 people; scratches the itch you're looking for. Cant comment on handling with trailers; probably a few others who could address.

Just finished a 6,600 mile trip in my over loaded JLUR (315-70-17 AT's) and half of that pulling a 2,000lb small boat in 7th at 75. My JLR on stock MT's (285-17-70) is fine on the hi way even at 75 in 8th. Wouldn't hesitate a long trip without the overloading & tag along. Either is light years ahead of my old CJ's. Of course you modify for big trucks and high wind rain & snow. Do it.

I have a 2020 2 door sport S, auto transmission, and am amazed how well it does on the highway. I have 33 inch mud tires (think they're 12ish inches wide, but don't quote me on that) and I have no problem going 70-75 on the interstate. I do feel it when cars pass me, I just don't fight the push and pull. I get about 17 mpg on the interstate with the top on. There is no comparison to my 84 CJ7 that got 5 mpg on the interstate and only broke 55 mph if I was going downhill. My CJ would shimmy if I tried to force it above 55, my wrangler doesn't shimmy until I exceed 80ish.

I have had 3 two door jeeps, last two Rubicons with perfoance suspension. Thay are not aerodynamic and can't drive really fast. Otherwise, very good on highway.

The driving dynamics of the 2 door is not that great. 4 door is way better. I do own a 2 door but I'm used to it yet have driven a number of other cars (including a multitude of Jeeps in many flavors and years). I will admit, the later ones are better. On the other hand, it's not like driving an RV (I have a Class C). Yet towing that Jeep seems to make no difference.

I also found out that it had some toe out in the front and once I gave it about 20' of toe in, it drove better (I have a set of old school Dunlop gauges). I also reset the front toe on my RV and that was way better.

Handles fine when properly equipped and maybe over weight just a tad!

Never had a stationwrangler but coming from a long line of 2drs I can tell you my JL likes the highway better than my full sized truck. My go to for road trips. Plenty of power and small enough to get in and out of traffic. I dont think you'll be disappointed.

2021 Jeep Wrangler Freedom Edition 2 Door
2021 Two Door Freedom Edition here. Swapped stock sport suspension for Rubi takeoff springs and shocks, and adjustable LCA’s. Added takeoff 33ā€ Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires from a Gladiator Mohave on ProComp Series 33 17x9 wheels. Was a ā€œlittleā€ loose/wander-y when I first got it, but after those changes… drives straight as an arrow down the freeway. 75 with one finger on the wheel easy-peasy. Currently running doorless and topless (see current profile pic) and loving it! Wind doesn’t affect the vehicle at all on the highway when topless - air just blows through instead of pushing the vehicle. And the No-doors/no-top weight reduction on a two door noticeably increases acceleration off the line. ?? 100% fun!

And - my sister-in-law has a 2022 white four door Sahara. She likes it a lot, but thought it steered a little loose on the highway or in wind. I let her test drive my two door - she was jelly… She will be installing longer lower LCA’s soon. ?

My wife and I have taken a couple of long (for us) road trips in our stock 2-door Wrangler: Central NJ - Key West FL (roundtrip) and Central NJ - Houston TX (roundtrip). It definitely requires more driver effort on the highway since the Jeep doesn't track as well as a "car". There is also quite a bit of wind noise above 65mph. That said, it's still our favorite road tripper. We are planning a Jeep road trip to Utah next year!

We have a 2 door and a 4 door and both drive great on the highway at most any speed I want to go. The 2 door handles as well as the longer wheelbase at speed. The biggest improvement in road manners was installing an Exact Center along with the stock stabilizer on both Jeeps. One of the best mods I've done. (yeah, I know, it's too clean):giggle:

no issues at all...provided you have the 3.6LV6.
Interesting. My experience is opposite of yours.

I test drove the 6 and the 4 before purchasing, and had just assumed, 6 is more than 4 so it must be better, so was planning to go that way. But when actually driving both, the 4 turbo had giant nuts compared to the 6. Did a lot of test runs going up big hills and on the highway. Doesn't seem to make sense, but the 4 turbo is very noticeably better, at least in my experience.

I've got the 2dr and routinely find myself accidentally doing 90+ mph and not noticing. Passing is a breeze in this thing, it just wants to GO.

I've heard the turbo is going to break down more and require more maintenance, which I'm not looking forward to. But for now, damn, this thing has torque to spare.

The pickup on the turbo was good, no argument there. But I was able to "feel" the road better in the 3.6. Might've been because the 6 is heavier but regardless of why the 6 "felt" better to me. My buddy who runs the garage that does the maintenance on all our vehicles also mentioned the additional maintenance for the turbo. That also played a part in our decision.
