What are some things I should do/add to a new Jeep?

Just drive it for a while. Get some seat time to figure what you don’t like or need. I wanted more reverse lighting so I got the oracle steel bumper light inserts that replace the red reflectors. Most people don’t care about the light output on the back end and few add six rear lighting.

Kinda hard to help when you don’t even say what you plan on doing like maybe rock crawling or mall shopping. Either way you are going to have fun. Suggesting you get 4 way air system isn’t gonna help if you never plan on going off road. Etc.

Congrats on the new ride.

Excited to become a first time Jeep owner. I’m sure this has been asked before, but I’m interested in some new opinions. What are some things I should do/add to a new Jeep?
First of all, that's a sexy piece, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

As for advice, in all honesty and seriousness, just drive it for a few months. It's way, way too easy to get sucked into a rabbit hole on the internet of other people telling you what you "need" for your Jeep. You'll be out thousands of dollars for no reason before you know it.

Drive it like you want to, and the things YOU should do for yourself will become apparent over time. Just enjoy it for now.

I’d just pick up some full underbody skids and see what it can do. Enjoy the ride, you’ll never be the same.

My biggest advice (and the advice I wish I had taken with my first Jeep) is don’t be cheap. Buying cheap parts usually gets you cheap parts. I’m not one for “sayings” but this one is true “buy once, cry once”. If you lift it don’t buy the cheap incomplete lift. Don’t buy cheap no name parts, no matter how small.

I’ll admit that some cheap parts aren’t a big deal. Usually it’s nic nacks like the little pockets that sit in front of the shifter. But 9 out of 10 times you’ll regret the cheap part. Do research. Be patient. Ask questions and ignore the jerks when you do.

Too many items to suggest but 1 good peace of advice: When filling up the tank and the pump stops because it has reached top "Stop There". One more squeeze and gas will be running down the side of the body. Do NOT TOP OFF.

Even more of a problem when you squeeze in so to speak that extra gas is that you risk, thanks to excessive gas input, that the extra gas flows into/saturates the evaporative filter.. That's not a positive thing...

and yes, gas on the paint job is not terrific either.

You can apply precut 3M protective film:
https://www.r3offroad.com/product-page/jeep-jl-door-hinge-protector-film

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/door-hinge-rock-chips.7287

OR...... a terrific, easier way to go.... and a way that offers far better protection, is to install @Threedom door hinge protectors.

Install is easy easy and added benefit is that they look terrific!

I'm still lost, why do I need to protect my hinges? Protect them from what?
