Hi! Well, I guess I just want to get my 1st post out of the way. :)
Just bought a JLUR 4xe over the weekend. So far, I love it more than I anticipated!
Will be a daily driver for me, and also a toad behind the RV for family adventures (with 3 younger kids). Hoping to do light off-roading, trail running, etc. Nothing serious, so will likely keep it stock re: lift/tires (famous last words???).
Dead pedal, screen protector, hood lift, and front rockbloz either on the way or installed. Thinking of ordering seat jackers today.
Been reading the forum as much as possible, just trying to acclimate myself.

That all said, any words of advice? Is there any conventional wisdom for things that someone completely new might not know/understand?

Also, a couple questions:
- Can anyone recommend easy on, easy off, seat covers?
- It's a little "darty". Feels like very little caster. Is this a thing? Do people do anything about it?
- I expected a noisy interior, and it'd not bad. But, are there any tricks to making the wind noise maybe a little better?

Lastly, the wave... Seems like only the older jeeps, that look like they're used as God intended, give me the wave. Is that about right?

But, really lastly, I've installed the angry grill. I really don't like the aesthetics, but based on all the recommendations on so many of the other threads...

Thanks!

Welcome, Skip! Presuming that's really tongue in cheek, you're going to fit in here very well.

If not, prepare for boarding! :CWL:

welcome.
without starting another 6-page rant about Jeep waves, my experience is that most people in white Jeeps don't wave ?, don't be one of them, but don't beat yourself up if it's not your thing, or you happen to occasionally miss one. it's meant to be fun, not a chore.
hope you have fun with your new Jeep

White Jeep owner here....and I wave probably too much...even at stock JK Sports on street tires :) This is my 7th rig YJ, 2 LJs, TJ, 2 JKs prior...lots of waving. I think it's more the newbies that don't get/do the wave...we need some sort of indoctrination process...or Jeep needs to be better about educating new owners.

Welcome!

Your JLUR is pretty damn capable straight off the line. I would highly recommend that you wheel it a few times as-is, to get an idea of what you're starting with. Esp for a daily driver doing light trails, the stock setup is going to be pretty stellar.

To answer some of your other questions:
  • I bought Diver Down seat covers last summer (Full install post with pics in my build thread) and for $200, I think they're fantastic summer seat covers. My goal was to protect the leather during the summer beach/lake visits, etc, and they did that well. I washed them with wetsuit soap at the end of the season, dried them, and packed them up in a plastic tote, and plan to pull them back out in ~a month. Easy to install, good coverage of the pull-down armrest in the back.
  • The only complaint I had on the Diver Down was the lack of a cover for the console, but I bought a $20 neoprene console cover off Amazon, and let me tell you I haven't taken it off, even through the winter. Just so nice.
  • Adjustable control arms, as suggested previously
  • My trim came with the MOPAR headliner and I think it makes a big difference. HotHeads is a similar product that's a forum sponsor and has a few additional color options, etc.
A few local recommendations:
  • There are, of course, a bajillion Jeep clubs in Texas. A personal favorite is Soft Roaders Texas, Lone Star Jeep Club, Texas Family Overlanding, and Jeep Junkies Off-Road.
  • We're a bit limited in off-road parks here in Texas, because we don't really believe in the concept of "public land", but Hidden Falls ORP is just north of you in Marble Falls and has some pretty great trails. In fact, there's a group from Soft Roaders doing a ride up there on 5/20 if you want to get it dirty soon. I'm planning to go, it'll be a good time. They're not strictly Jeeps so you get a mix. Also not "mall crawlers" but less of the "rock humpers" group, as well, I find them to be a nice balance.

Glad to help - most of the Texas groups run as a FB group. While I despise FB with the heat of a thousand suns, it's a necessary evil to stay connected, I've found.
