Manual and Rubicon so my experience means nothing to you but I think driveability is significant improved with 37s and stock 4.10 gears

I just had my JL regeared. I have a 2 door with the 3.6L auto and went with 4.88s running a 37" Copper STT Pro tire.

I went for a little while on the stock 4.10s with 37s. Around town it was okay, but on the highway, I rarely saw 8th gear.

It's sooo much better now with the 4.88s.

I’m going with 4.88 for my 38’s next month. Thanks for the thumbs up on my post last week.
That’ll be a great match, with bigger running 38s you could even run 5.13s if so inclined!

remember you have 4:10 gears a Sahara will quite worse. I think they are 3:73 or high ratio, not numerically.

I’m with UK on the big wheels, I thought it was just a Florida thing.
Sport and Sahara models come with 3.45's. The diesels will supposedly get 3.73's.

Those Florida things seem to be spreading as north as New Jersey, nowadays. They'll learn the cost, sooner than later, up here in the snow belt.

I have only seen big wheels on H3 hummers and land rovers in SoCal.

With the 22s and 37s that will be a pretty heavy wheel and tire setup. My 37s and 17s weigh 95 pounds a piece and my 3.6, 8 speed and 4.10s (rubicon) do just fine. With the 3.45s you may want to. Only you know what is acceptable performance for you, so give it a go as is, with programmer, and you’ll know if you need to.

So I had everything installed on Wednesday and so far so good. My mpg is sitting at 19.4 average and I just drive back roads to my office and back. That turbo still has plenty of pop when needed and as long as I don’t hit 75mph+, my mpgs stay around the 18-19 mark. I can live with that. Some of you may not understand the “Florida” thing and that’s ok...there’s a market for everything or they wouldn’t be selling them. Thanks for all of the info and if down the line I feel like I need to regear, I probably will!

Hey everyone,

My husband and I just purchased a 2020 JL Sahara. This Jeep will be driven as a marketing vehicle back and forth from the office and home with an occasional trail ride. We just purchased a 3.5” lift, 22x10 wheels, along with some 37s. I don’t care if you think big wheels suck, you’re not paying for my additions so move along. I’ve heard and seen multiple people talk about regearing or not needing to but would like to hear more...should we or shouldn’t we? Oh, it’s the 2.0L turbo too...
With 22's it's obviously not going to spend time off road so your gearing probably is fine for cruising around, etc, etc.
