Like LOD said, video were good to watch just to be certain on a few things. Hardest part for me was running the wires for the back up camera. Other than that, it was pretty smooth.

I installed my LoD Destroyer + Tire Carrier yesterday, with the following accessories: backup camera relocation kit, license plate relocation kit, jerry can mounts, horizontal jack mount, CB mount. I opted against the backup lights for now and mounted the blanks. Here is a quick report on how it went.

Let me start with the result: all components appear to be super solid and well manufactured. I took the Jeep over a very bumpy trail and there was zero rattle, none. Really a good feeling knowing that while you are flying over some bumps, your equipment won't fly off. The one handed operation works very well once adjusted, the bearing loaded tire carrier swings in and out like butter. You can tell that the folks at LoD put a lot of thought into this carrier. One area where the design could be further improved are the jerry can holders. Maybe in the next evolution cycle, the mounts holding the gas cans will be lockable, and cover the filler cap.

Including accessories and clean- up, installation took me about 12h. Bolting on the bumper and attaching the carrier took about 3 hours and it was helpful to have my son around with a pair of strong hands. The remainder of the install can be done by one person. It appears that LoD keeps evolving their design (which I view as a positive), it means that some of the install videos are slightly outdated. E.g. I was glad to see that no more drilling is required to install the bumper. The bumper has strategically placed drainage holes, which make it easy to reach bolts and nuts. Nice! One thing LoD could improve on is the use of bolts with different length and thread sizes. Standardization to fewer different bolt types would easily be possible, it would simplify the installation, and allow overlanders to carry less spare hardware. And talking about less hardware: the CB mount should simply be integrated into the tailgate plate, not a separate part.

One thing I was not so thrilled with was the packaging. LoD uses foam, which does protect the components effectively. However, separating the foam from the cardboard (for those of us who believe we should not just toss it all on a landfill) was a major pain. It certainly accounted for 2 of the 12h install time.

With all that said, I am very happy with the finished result. The hardcore off-road test is still outstanding, but I am confident the LoD Destroyer Bumper and Tire Carrier will pass with flying colors.

One hint maybe: thread the camera cable into the sheath with the white connector first (wrap it in masking tape to protect it). Then work in the opposite direction than suggested by LoD: start from the camera, then thread through the fender into the rear light, from there through the grommet to the tailgate. In hindsight, I think that would have been easier.

Oh and another one: getting the camera out of the stock tire carrier seems impossible until you realize that the camera is held back by a plastic piece. Turn the carrier around so you look at the tire lugs. You will see that they are surrounded by plastic rings. Push those inwards and the plastic piece holding the camera in will come loose. Of course you have to remove all the bolts and screws first.

With the hard-core off-road test now completed, I can confirm that the LoD Destroyer Bumper + Tire Carrier performed its duties without fail.

We took Teapot Canyon trail in the Maze district of Canyonlands. The evening before descending Flint Trail, I re-torqued all bolts holding the bumper in place, and some had gotten a bit loose since installation. The tire carrier was loaded with a 35" tire, 10 gallons of gas, and a jack, and it held everything securely in place. The only small issue I discovered was the rubber lip of the license plate bracket. It worked itself out from the bracket and rubbed sand and dirt against the chassis, removing the paint in some spots. I'll have to glue it to the bracket. Not a biggie.

Tie both lights’ positive leads together and both negatives together, then run these two wires down under and behind the bumper. You will probably need extra wire as the bolt leads aren’t long enough if I remember correctly. I cut the connector for the lights from the stock bumper so I could reuse it, but you could opt not to.

Then just connect the positive wire to the blue-white wire and negative to black. I used split wire loom to keep the wires covered and for a cleaner look. I also recommend soldered and shrink-wrapped connections but you could just twist and use electrical tape.

This pic is how mine looks from underneath.

I installed my destroyer and tire carrier today. Has anyone else had problems with the back up camera not working after the install? Everything seemed to go as planned until putting in reverse.

Hi. Wanted to share my experience as well. Got the destroyer tire carrier and bumper. Ended up getting the license plate bracket, rear camera kit, third light bracket, led light bolts, rigid light bezels, Everything in black as well.

Just shy of 2k for everything. The bumper and tire carrier replacing Rubicon stock bumper and MOPAR reinforced tire carrier ( running 37's)

Unfortunately my experience with LOD offroad has been a nightmare so far. First they didn't ship me my items until I reached out to them after 3 weeks of waiting. I guess there was some glitch and they put my order into the wrong processing bucket. Rep apologized and said that they would send one out as soon as it came back from powder coating. Took another week or so to get the package.

After reading the posts here ( thanks everyone!!) I planned to do the install in 2 phases ( bumper first and then tire carrier next ) blocked off 2 days to do it.

Day 1 - bumper install

- first thing. That foam is freaking annoying. Gonna be a bear to break those boxes down . :(

- bumper was solid, little bit of scratching on the ends but hardly noticeable. Built solid and all welds looked good.

- Having a Rubicon with tow package, I had to remove rear tow hook and hitch

- installed the license plate bracket and light bolts. Left loose as per instructions.

- slid the bumper on and it wouldn't slide on the passenger side. Realized that the tow electrical plug connector needed to be Unbolted as the bumper was hitting it. So did that. Slid then bumper back on and raised it with a Jack until it aligned with the holes. Followed the videos and started to bolt on and level. At this point found that the license plate bracket was sliding too far right causing the tailgate not to open. Loosened it all the way to get it back to the left. This was a major pain as the license plate bracket didn't line up.with mount holes unless it was blocking the tailgate. So forced it left again and bolted down the best I could. Manageable but not what I expected for 2k.

The bumper interferes with the trailer hitch connector, screw holes, but I was able to screw the passenger slider hole in and it is good for now. Can anyone let me know if it is just mine or is there a better way to mount it?

Wired in the light bolts to the stock licence plate lights ( cut off the stock harness, and tied.both red to white and both blacks to black. Note did have to add more wire to extend to the stock wires )

Phase 2

- re-arranged my Sunday to give ample time to install the carrier. Opened the tire carrier box and pulled out the swing gate. Went over the instructions and to start on the tailgate bracket install. Looked around and NO FREAKING DOOR PLATE ASSEMBLY Missing entirely. Tore the garage and packaging apart and nothing. This is not a bolt or not. This is the entire large bracket/plate assembly. What the heck LOD????? So waste of a Sunday, can't call them up cuz they are closed... so now have to call them on Monday and then wait for god knows how long for the Door plate then have to find a day to get installed. This is absurd. 2K for a toy for my toy and this is what I get.

Missing this.

Not happy right now with LOD, for this price. I expect better. Calling first thing tomorrow.
