Upgrading from the 5" UConnect3 to 7" UConnect4?

I apologize in advance but, I have not had the time to read the entire thread. Is the conclusion that the Uconnect 5" can be swapped plug and play for the 7 or 8.4? If so, where is a good place to purchase? Thanks much!!!

I've had the 8.4 in other vehicles and it seems the 7 inch does not have all the apps such as weather, sports etc... can anyone confirm these apps exist in the 8.4 with the jeep jl? The 7 inch is nice but it's missing some cool content unless it's just not part of the jeep 8.4.

I just purchased the 7" Radio with the bezel for $580. Selected expedited shipping so hopefully they will arrive before the weekend and can get them installed this weekend! Thank you everyone who contributed with information, part numbers, etc.!

$580 is way overpriced now. I might have been one of the first people to order this and stock was LOW. Now you can find them for under $400. I purchased from Rock Auto.

To me, the big thing that you get with the 8.4 is ability to start your Jeep with your cell phone from anywhere! I just got my sport S last night with the 7 and I thought uconnect access (the ability to lock/unlock and start your car with the uconnect iPhone app) came with it. It does not : ^ ( This has me thinking about the 7 to 8.4 upgrade... just to get that feature. But, I haven't seen any one post that they have this feature working after going through the upgrade process.

Beyond easy. I had to wait three weeks to pick up my new jeep because they couldnt get the radio to work. The old radio still would just shut off every one on a while.

Anyway it is so easy to change out the unit. Looks great and I can use CarPlay. About $450 all in.

We just listed my 7” on EBay. I took it out 3 days after I brought my Rubicon home to put in the 8.4”. It’s plug and play.

I just upgraded from the 7’ to 8.4 and I can’t get that feature to work

There's a thread on this, you'll need to purchase/install the LTE/WiFi Antenna and then contact FCA to update the radio. Planning on upgrading from the 5 to 8.4 myself.

From my conversations with Infotainment, they're aiming to have a kit out sometime this summer. So, I guess that just means sometime before September?

Anyone find an answer to this yet? Bought 2018 JL Sport with the base 5" radio with no XM. Wanted to upgrade to the 7" without spending the $1,200 the dealer wants to put it in.

I just purchased the 7" with Bezel from https://www.moparwholesaleparts.com/ not sure if this helps you. I wasn't about to pay what Infotainment was asking and it seems rock auto is the same price as where i just purchased from.
