JL Rubicon on order
I think it could also look good with the White, and possibly grey & silver. I think it will clash with some of the other colors. I wonder if there will be a MOPAR option to change this at the dealership after purchase.
I think the Red looks great with Granite which seems to be the color combo for the Rubicon in the pdf brochure we saw yesterday.

Half doors won’t come with uppers? WTF?
Thanks for posting this. Because of you I had a revelation.

Halfs will have no uppers because they haven't designed the fabric yet. Jay mentioned soft too material is twill, like current premium top. Currently you can't get half doors with premium top because fabrics don't match-half uppers don't come in twill fabric. YET. Let's hope they remedy that.

Our schedule shows diesel production starting August 2018, which would make it a 2019 model year.

See our JL production schedule @ http://www.jlwranglerforums.com/for...jl-2-0l-delay-powertop-diesel-dates-etc.1341/
I held out on ordering a month ago because of that production schedule hoping that its provisional nature might be solidified in LA but none of the execs or press releases mention anything but the generic “2019”. Based on Jeep’s own track record with the EcoDiesel GC release delays and the FCA/EPA holdups getting 2017 Ram 1500 and GC Ecodiesels re-approved (let alone 2018s sold), one has to wonder if 2019 is really just a broad calendar year goal based on these known variables which aren’t 100% under their control.

My bet...half doors are an add-on option, not a replacement of full doors. They're not gonna sell a vehicle without windows.

Stop your itching about the dash and just get it wrapped for an extra $50 when you get your windows tinted.

My thoughts exactly. I really couldn't see the factory loading a new Wrangler, exposed to the elements, onto a carrier truck. And I'm sure they're not gonna wrap them just so they can deliver a vehicle w/ half doors.

If the half doors come stock, uppers will be provided. OR they will be a dual option like tops. Simple logic.

Okay thanks. This is disappointing. Can you find out if more colour dash options are planned for the near future?

I disagree. I think the red dash only looks good with red or black exterior. And I don't like tan interiors. Sigh...
The orange Rubicon on Jeep.com looks to have black interior with black dash. Surely we'll have that option? Thats pretty much the Jeep I want.

Pricing won't be announced at the show. Closer to the end of the year is what we were told.
Thanks.

Any news on the remaining colors? Production will start in April or so?

I too prefer a black dash, however the red with billet silver will look good too.

Don't want to burst your bubble but the Rubicon on page 4 of the brochure says High Clearance Fender Flares (what we have called hi-line) are standard yet the picture shows the Rubicon without the hi-line flares. Also when you click on Explore on Jeep.com the first image is a red Rubicon, also without the hi-line flares.

I know it's early, but Jeep needs to get it together when it comes to the marketing materials.

Swapping it out can't be that hard.

Edit: changed picture shows Wrangler to Rubicon.

Imminent Rubicon
Hi all, first post.

Thank you Jay (?) and all others contributing to the news. A few Qs regarding JL Rubicon:

1. When the soft top is off, does it push down into the back of the JL and remain hidden? Or does the entire thing actually come off? I'm assuming the rear windows/windshield remove, but the top moves down the roll bar and then glides into/under the trunk, along with the windows. Does that sound right?

2. How long to take top off/on? More than five minutes?

3. The 2.0 should be very tunable. Will we see aftermarket flashes, and would you consider them?

4. Where is the safest spot for a dog? Without the top, the rear looks very dangerous. But the front has airbags. Can passenger seat airbags be shut off?

5. Is there a rule of thumb while offroading with the top off to keep the interior clean (i.e. staying out of water > x inches)?

6. Will punk'd orange be released in 2018?

7. Does the JL have any trunk space? It doesn't seem like it, especially if the soft top has to pack into it.

8. Where were the official images for the release taken? Colorado?

Soft top doesn’t fold completely below the beltline. I sits just slightly above/below it.

Taking it ‘off’ or just taking it down? Full removal is much longer than just lowering it, but there are some improvements to speed up the process. Likely still more than 5 mins for one person.

4. Where is the safest spot for a dog? Without the top, the rear looks very dangerous. But the front has airbags. Can passenger seat airbags be shut off?
In the back is still the best if you use a dog seatbelt and the childseat mounting points.
The front passenger airbag is disabled based on weight, a big dog might enable them, smaller dogs shouldn’t.
See page 246 of the JL’s owner’s manual for details.

The dealer can disable completely, but not driver selectively.

5. Is there a rule of thumb while offroading with the top off to keep the interior clean (i.e. staying out of water > x inches)?
No, it’s gonna get dirty, even just from road dust, fine silica dust is the hardest to clean out of seats and nooks & crannies, and can get in even through just open windows, more with open top of course.
