Oh stop trying to rationalize driving without mirrors and making up stupid excuses. I guess we know who doesn’t use mirrors anyway, the same mindless people who look forward when backing up and the same people who change lanes in front of passing traffic and then maintain a slower speed. Sure, Karen, you’re a great driver, yep…
I skimmed the first like 15 pages so I dunno what he did, but sure, fuck it
One selection from many in the cellar. This was in response to me telling blimpy boy that if he believes mirrors should be mandatory due to safety that he might as well use helmets as well when driving.

Gotcha, yeah, silliness. Mirrors can help someone if they use them well, but are useless if they don't use them well - doors or no doors, top on or no top. Shitty driver's gonna be shitty with mirrors, good driver's gonna be good without mirrors.

In general I never want to talk to the police. And there are certain times I REALLY don't want to talk to them. So, even if I lived in WI, I'd have outside mirrors to avoid any warranted, or unwarranted conversations.

You'll think of mirrors thanks to me, mission accomplished.
We all don't live in the boonies and need to use them.

So what makes you think I and others who refute your logic all live in the boonies?

You are the one who keeps going after a political attack. Try to keep up, nobody else cares about your leanings. Just the fact that you don't lean or turn to observe your blind spot, and then try to claim superiority over those that do a good safety check.
But then I'd have to go to New Jersey and there's not enough soap southeast to wash that stank off me
The poor guy from NC started it.

I think this is a primary source of the disagreements. People naturally base their commentary using themselves as the norm. But different folks drive in different areas with different traffic conditions. I'm in a smallish town with pretty light traffic and most roads are 45mph or less. I didn't like having zero mirror on the left but didn't want to spring for an overpriced full size for the 4 weeks a year it's not hot as hell. The $12 bicycle mirror helped and I actually like having it all the time. I DON'T like driving on the freeway without doors but have on occasion. The crazier the traffic, the more useful a mirror is.

Edit to add: I'll also concede having additional mirrors is arguably safer. The counterpoint that you have to use them is also valid.
