I'm trained as a chemist here. I now work as an engine testing engineer. That particular year and type of engine can absolutely handle E15 with no adverse long term effects other than a slight dip in MPG.

Since stations have tanks and pipes for existing grades is E15 instead of or in addition to E10 where found? šŸ¤” I wish we had the no alcohol option!ā˜¹

OK people do not normal see the damage E-85 can do to an engine right away. You could run E-85 for months and not see the damage. In an engine not designed for E-85 these things could be damaged. Fuel hoses, fuel pump, gaskets, seals, fuel filters, fuel injectors, throttle bodies and such. Think that you will not notice being damaged until after the damage is already done. As far as mileage. My wife had a van that was flex-fuel approved. The E-85 had to be at least 35 cents a gallon cheaper for the gas mileage to be worth buying the E-85.

Just to clear up some posts in this thread. For E85 all you need is a tune. No other engine upgrades are needed. I have a Livernois tune and ran E85 for a year straight.

I pulled into a Flying-J a few months back and all their regular was e15, so it's been on sale here in Iowa for a while. Iowa just passed a law requiring stations to sell it.
I'm sure you all know this, however.....

E15 around here is 88 octane but always about 40 - 50 cent cheaper than regular 87 (E10). Thereā€™s gotta be a catch. More octane for less money. More deposits and carbon on intake valves? Iā€™ve used it on prior vehicles and the $/mile is usually better despite the lower energy density. Whatā€™s the catch??

Less energy in methanol, not as good of a fuel mileage.

I'll hit the end of my standard warranty next month with under 10,000 miles on the odometer, so gas mileage isnt much of a concern...wouldnt be driving a jeep if it were anyway.

Just wanted to be sure it's safe for the engine, in dase it rnds up being desireable for some reason.
