I could care less where it is built. All I want is for it to be built with good features, good quality and at a good value. I have no problem that my iPhone is made in China or that my BMW M2 was built in Mexico instead of Germany.

In this era of integrated supply chains it's pointless to obsess about parts content.

Much more important is where is the SW for JL written? Where was the electrical system architecture designed? Where is the customer support center hosted? What priorities were given by the executive team to the warranty support department?

People have a weird fixation with metal pieces. The software, customer experience, post sales support and warranty are so much more important than where a piece of metal came from.

Including the 3.0L Eco-Diesel Engine(Italian>VT Mottori) paired with the German Transmission ZF-8HP75 (ZF Friedrichshafen AG) along with various other parts from other parts of the world. I think Bosch makes the HPFP for us Eco-Diesel owners? Another German company. I think the Radio>U Connect is Clarion> Japanese

As someone who has worked on the assembly lines of several manufacturers, I can tell you that the 'built in the USA' tagline does not guarantee quality. Long hours, high quotas, terrible work environments, rampant nepotism and very relaxed hiring qualifications means you are often paying more for a part of the same or lesser quality. Really, the only real advantage of domestically produced products is that they often come with better warranties.

I would also like to point out that Tesla employees comprise roughly half of my current clientele, with Amazon making up the majority of other half. Do with that information what you will.

Think US percentage is going to vary quite a bit, especially since the engine and drivetrain options have varied and changed origins over time. And even then I'm not sure if any of the window stickers breaks down the exact US/Canadian percentage for whatever highly deceptive reason.

My '23 with V6/8AT is 61% US/Canadian, which I personally felt was far too low for my own level of patriotism expected from the Jeep brand (since they were named "Most Patriotic Brand in America" for the last 23 years).

I'm sure the stuff made elsewhere is top-notch grade-A primo shit, but I'm just a brand/product traditionalist. I wouldn't want a Lamborghini built in Chechnya, Jack Daniels distilled in Paraguay, a Harley made in China or a Rolex made in Finland. A Nikon camera should be made in Japan with a Zeiss lens made in Germany and a 1911 should always be made in the US.

My Evo was 94% Japanese parts and built in Japan, and not that it really mattered, but I had an appreciation for that and just wish my "Since 1941" WIllys MB-successor "Proudly built in Toledo, OH" Jeep was the same (probably wouldn't care as much if I was buying a Compass or a Renegade). Certain iconic products have a heritage and some consumers still value that.

I think it's actually % by weight. Stuff like the frame/differentials are heavy and built here, but like most individual parts are foreign. Just about every item I replace will have a foreign country stamped on it. The EPS pump is built in china for example. ALL the wiring is foreign. You'd have to try hard to find a USA stamped part on the vehicle unfortunately

If you counted it by each individual part number I'd say 80-90% of the vehicle is foreign parts. Probably the only thing we make stateside is the steel/aluminum parts


I replaced an air vent on a wagoneer the other week and was notably surprised when I saw "Made in USA" stamped on it. You don't see that very often

I'm surprised with the 60% level of my Jeep. It seems to me that my USA-assembled Hondas were all over 70%... I'd be curious to know how well the US-made 3.6 holds up compared to the Mexican-made engine over time.
