This. I'm coming up on 60k on my '19 JLR and would love to look at a newer one now that I moved up to the mountains with a resulting longer commute down to the city. The 3.6 feels disposable above 80k with the ticking issues etc and I have had my fair share of recent electrical gremlins (including a "stop, vehicle will shut off").They need to do something to make us excited about the brand. Charging $100,000+ for an old school 392 isn’t doing much for its fanboy base.
Hey Stellantis I have an idea for you…stick a medium output inline six into the wrangler for a $3,000 up charge and you might be amazed by the increase in sales. Give me a reason to step up to a newer model…..I already have the 2.0 in my 2020 Ruby and I’m not interested in doing that again. The 3.6 is too gutless for me at altitude and the 2.0 is one crappy sounding engine when cold. If you don't do something, your competitors will….
What are my options for 2024? Another identical 3.6, a 2.0 / 4xE that sounds like a 2005 Nissan Sentra, or a $100,000 392 that gets 9mpg and has a weird hybrid transfer case. No more diesel, either unless I buy used.
I would love a turbo I6 with a little more HP/TQ - a lifted rig on 37s with steel bumpers, a winch, skid plates, and gear can really use it. Right now I'm sitting here like "do I really need to have owned two JLs?"
