Good point, I just went with the simple explanation that is often used in car audio. The actual explanation is that my total component RMS is 3800W, at 13.4V that still requires 283A for the audio. I agree there really is no way to know exactly without hooking it all up and seeing what happens, which I have on my JLUR. I run nearly the same setup on that jeep and prior to getting the Genesis dual battery was in fact having issues. The dual battery helped enough to not make it an issue, but it is not an option for the 392, and I have more “flare” in that rig than I do the JLUR.That’s not necessarily how you’d calculate for alternator size. The amplifiers won’t be drawing anywhere near those peak numbers constantly. Odds are the standard HO alternator would have no problem keeping up. To truly know what your continous draw is you‘d need a meter that will store average amperage over time, which is pretty expensive. The cheap/easy way would be hook everything up and run it at full volume with every accessory running and see if you get any measurable voltage drop. If you don’t, the alternator is keeping up just fine.
