So what was the problem? What type of shop did the diagnostics and / or repair?
A friend of a friend's shop is working on it. A belt had come off because the idler something something had come off, so the alternator and the water pump were not working. The part is about $100 as opposed to a $1300 alternator for that Jeep.

Do yourself a favor while your friend's friend is working on it and replace both batteries, you are on borrowed time!

this sounds like you have the auto start/stop function enabled; it saves a bit of gas in town and it is quite hard on batteries.

I think the issues can be avoided totally by (1) turning off auto start/stop, (2) getting better quality batteries and (3) deleting the aux battery, or minimized by doing only a subset of the three.

Also, you can completely replace the battery system with a Genesis Dual Battery System - expensive and overkill for almost all of us, but well-built and effective.

Keep us posted on how it all goes!
4/27. I went the dealership a week ago. The hybrid guy looked at it on Monday. The parts arrived Thursday morning. Now lunch on Saturday. I have gotten to know just about every LYFT driver going to/from work. My refrigerator is empty because each day I think it will be fixed and I can use my car...
Sooo...what was the problem? Not the battery. Not the generator. They are replacing all the idler tensioners and two belts that were slipping. $800 to the one-man show mechanics of 40+ years experience. Over $2200 to the dealership. About $1200 of that is labor. A bunch of stuff has to be removed to reach the problem parts. I am taking friendly wagers on when my car will be able to be picked up. Closest day and hour will get a small, fun Jeep trinket.

If you are on OEM batteries, they NEED to be changed ASAP!!! Others have said this, and they are absolutely correct. Have you figured out eTorque or not?? eTorque does not have the small AUX battery. You really need to know this stuff so you can talk to the mechanics about your Jeep.

So you had an etorque belt tensioner fail? They are two separate belts driving the etorque motor generator and the water pump.
