I recently purchased a 2018 Wrangler Rubicon. I immediately started having an issue while driving in which the check shifter light comes on and I lose power steering followed by a hots of malfunction indicators. I have spent hours of research regarding the issue and have checked every harness, ground, module, etc on the vehicle. In 3 weeks it has been at Jeep now for the 3rd time. They did make a repair to the harness by the ac condenser as I have seen on other threads but no other visual issues are present. I have seen tons of threads regarding these issues and some have possible been fixed but mine does not have any other harnesses showing damage or an open and all batteries are good and all grounds have been checked. Jeep is kinda scratching their heads as well. Any advice other than to get rid of it?

Welcome to the forum.

Have you replaced both batteries?

Jeep dealers are known for acting as if yours is the first time they see this issue. They make you come back a dozen times, keep the vehicle for weeks at a time, swap modules left and right, and scratch their heads.

Drive to O’Reillys, get two new batteries and replace them yourself. I’d say you have a 70% chance that that will fix your electrical gremlins. If it doesn’t, then your prospects for fixing the Jeep drop very fast.

Good luck.

Do you by chance have an after market oil catch can installed? If it gets full it will cause error codes similar to what you're describing.
No, I have a winch and some Rigid pod LEDS's, everything else is factory.

Have you replaced them yourself, though.

We see over and over that dealers claim to do this and that when they haven’t. All they do is plug their diagnostic tools and swap parts. The more expensive the parts; the happier they are.

Besides, they will reuse the same crappy battery brand that started all of the problems in the first place.

Sounds like someone probably dumped it because of these errors =/
I would say you are correct. The Jeep had been to the local dealer a few months ago for the same issue and they were unable to duplicate it at the time.

Yes, I replaced them the 2nd day I owned the vehicle. I'm a Service Director at a Ford dealer and I worked for Jeep for several years as a Service Manager. I never experienced an intermittent issue to this extent that was hard to duplicate and gave 50 fault messages but was gone as quickly as it happened. I have reached out to several of my old techs and without duplicating it with a flight monitor or during a diag test drive it will be hard to pin point. From my experience it almost has to be an open somewhere. I have almost disassembled the vehicle looking.

That doesn’t sound good, then. I’m sorry to say.

We have seen instances on here when people bought a JL and faced what you are describing. They and their dealers reached the end of their ropes without finding a solution, unfortunately.

Is there any way you can get out of that Jeep? Judging by the fact that you and the dealer have been at this for weeks, my guess is that ship has already sailed... :(

I can, it's a really nice Jeep and I hate to but it's looking like my best option currently.

I agree.

I’d do it. And if you still have the inclination, look for a better one.

When looking at used JLs, make sure to check the CarFax and look for the frequency of dealer visits. An inordinate number of visits in a short period of time is a red flag.

Good luck!

I'm not a huge Jeep fan but I really liked this one. I traded my side by side for it and wishing I hadn't. I may go with something different for my off roading.

Welcome to the Forum, from Cave Creek AZ. Unfortunately there are way to many electronics on our current production vehicles. And they just keep adding more.. :(
