I live in PA and I’ve had zero issues with snow accumulation on my LED lights. And, as someone else said, putting LED lamps in a halogen housing is not the correct way to do it. Cough up the cash and get the LED package. I also recommend the safety group…that will get you blind spot monitoring as well as LED tail lamps
I'm curious if others have had issues with the factory LED's in snow/ ice conditions? One of the main reasons I didn't opt for the factory LED's was because of feedback I've read about snow and ice accumulation due to the lack of heat generation, as compared to the std. halogens. I figured I would upgrade later with LED's that had the integrated heating elements (i.e. Oculus) once they are proven in the wild.

LEDs are a must for me the halogens are terrible at night. I personally think at the price point the jeeps are at now they should be standard.

I think it depends on where you live.

I see a lot of people saying they're necessary, and I don't doubt that.

I've had my Sport with halogens for a month and they've been fine.

My thoughts on why that is... I live in downtown Milwaukee... cities are well lit. I also live close to the interstate, and that's well lit as well. The majority of my driving is well lit. Although when I have been in poorly lit places, they've seemed fine.

Having said that I grew up in a small, far northwest suburb of Chicago that was surrounded by rural areas where roads were not well lit, and my dad hit several deer when we lived there.

I like the look of the halo LEDs, but for me they haven't been a need yet, so it's low on the priority list.

I always wondered whether I should have gotten the factory LEDs. Then, I got them on my 21/22 Gladiator Rubicon and I am glad I did because they’re worth it.

they’re worth it to me. I’ve had to upgrade previous Jeep lighting and I think these are really solid.

they’re better than the my last aftermarket LEDs in my JK (JW Speaker LEDs).

honestly it’s the first Jeep I’ve had that auxiliary lighting hasn’t been an immediate need.

They are only worth it if you can afford it. They are ridiculously expensive. We included them in our 2021 JLUR on which we took delivery in Dec 2020. We have made multiple overland trips. They are very bright. Draw little power. We had trouble with one headlight that worked intermittently but the dealer replaced it without question.

But they are not necessary. People been driving cars for a century without LED headlights. Made epic expeditions to far flung locations. Never heard of one failing because someone did not have LED headlights or some other gizmo.

We had the dough for them so we included them. But we didn't get the proximity door locks or adaptive cruise control or blind side warnings stuff or forward looking camera. Been driving4x4s for 45 years and I don't need that stuff or want anything that keeps my head in the vehicle vice scanning outside the vehicle. So brighter headlights and a bigger LED screen were higher on the priority list. That's how we worked what to get and what to leave off. We got a few other things too like the upgraded stereo and towing package. Also manual transmission. We opted for the V6 and are glad we did. We paid about $44k new. That was 13 months ago. I am stunned by what people are paying now.

As a side note, I have to say I enjoy driving the jeep both off-road and on road more than any vehicle I have had in a long long time. Only a Triumph TR-6 and my '69 Z28 were as fun to drive. I hope you enjoy your new jeep as much as I enjoy mine.

LED all the way. I wouldn't buy new or used without them.

Curious for those that have it, or tried both in similar night driving conditions: is the LED Lighting Group worth it on a Rubicon?

I see many that go aftermarket LED bulbs instead. $1500 isn't cheap, and I hear it might be a build constraint due to chip shortages... but that's hear-say.
I really like my 21 JLU with the LED package. The only issue I have is that when driving at night, lots of vehicles flash me their headlights, thinking that my brights are on. I’m curious if others are having the same issue. A result, I don’t use the fog lights unless absolutely necessary for in areas where there are no other vehicles. And without the fog lights, people flash me their lights and with the fog lights on, even more so. I do have the recon Xtreme package and I’m wondering if that lift might have anything to do with it.

It shouldn't, provided the Toledo line employee aimed the lights correctly during assembly.

Given the frequency with which other drivers are distracted by your Jeep's headlights, you might consider checking their alignment sooner rather than later.

I have always had the halogens, but could not justify the $ for LEDs, looked into aftermarket LEDs, but to me they still don't look as good as the factory LEDS, and not that cheap either. It's not uncommon to see a Wrangler with malfunctioning after market LEDs,

The factory halogen running/turning signal lights, are ugly and the only thing I didn't like about the halogens, they could have used bulbs that filled out the entire housing, they look like if a bulb is missing.

The 4xe came with the LEDs standard, and I like them, the Wrangler factory LEDs to me is one of the best looking LEDs even against higher end vehicles.
I had more expensive lighting options on other cars. I think the oem LEDs are an exceptional value. They are not only really good looking. The Wrangler's oem LED lighting output and lens/light cut-off is probably the best I have had out of all the vehicles I have owned. They really hit it out of the park in my opinion.

With my first JLR with LEDs. I got a few people giving me the headlight-flash on the way home. I assumed it was because of the hight of the Rubicon? Turns out I drove it home with the brights on by accident.:LOL:

As others have said, sounds like you may have an aiming issue. I've never been flashed with my (low beam) LED's on - before or after the 2" Mopar Lift which with 35's puts me about the same height as the Recon. Part of the installation is to re-aim the headlights because of just what you are describing.

I put after market LED bulbs in my GMC Sierra and it is better than halogens but not like the factory LED's on my Rubi. Definitely worth the extra $'s.
