Make sure if you want to take the ends off you go to your dealership and have them removed. Do not do it yourself!!! One of my bolts was cross-threaded. As I attempted to remove it with some other bolts in it, it scratched the powder coat. I called to get it fixed and was told if I removed the ends, I was responsible, the dealer is to remove them. This is after I was told it would be covered. So be warned.

On top of that, the passenger side rear door already has rust. On a brand new 2020. Look at this...

Then the rear fender on the same side has a chip in the paint.... that they covered with the plastic protection film. Also, I have the $1800 stereo system upgrade. The speaker above the passengers head rattles like its blown. I've never had the volume above 25.

All this on a $55,000 Recon I've had less than a month. My last wrangler was an 09 X. I got 12 years and 209,000 miles out of that one. Seems like that won't be happening again based on the build quality I'm seeing so far.

What is going on with you guys @JeepCares ?

Scratched the powder coat on the steel bumper????? WTF didn't you buy jeep with a steel bumper because you might scratch up your jeep off roading? They make flat black spray paint for that. Ill remove my own end caps when i rock crawl and if i scratch my bumper then so what. Like i'm real worried about scratching my bumper.

I mean, if you scratch something do you really expect Jeep to cover it? The door strap looks like it’s missing some finish, I’d have them get you a new one. Speakers sometimes blow, get a new one.
I did when they told me they were going to cover it.

You need to check the screws on the speaker cover and the actual speaker because same thing happened with mine and I thought it was blown. Put my hand on it and pressed and the rattle went away! I changed out the speakers and problem gone...I have the "premium" Alpine system lol ..

I have the same issue on the passenger side on the sport bar. Was the speaker just loose? I will have to take the cover off and check mine to see if I can determine what is happening. It is annoying when it happens, but doesn't happen that much. I have the alpines as well.

I would imagine that most of the $55k does not go to fit and finish on a jeep. As far as end caps probably more of an isolated issue, I have removed mine many times with no issue at all, that rust is surface rust like brake rotors after you wash the vehicle, clean and apply some clear nail polish. speaker is not a big deal have them replace it.

It was def loose and I could have just wedged a small piece of cardboard in there but I wanted more/deeper sound anyway so I switched out the speakers in the front above dash and the soundbars...but yes it is just the cover in the soundbar that tend to cause that identical sound of a blown speaker.

Had the factory bumper not sure there is a way to get the ends off without minor scratching in the overlap as they are steel on steel. Had a similar cross thread issue but on the frame holding on one of the tie in brackets. Ended up drilling out and retapping the threads. It was a bit sad to be drilling on my brand new $60000 Jeep not to mention added hours to the job. Wonder if they are not getting clean taps at the factory. Thought mine was a one off. Also seems the threads on the bolts are a bit weak as had another (same bolt different location) start to strip out but was able to get that one out....

LOL, be warned, you'll get no sympathy from this group. You need to drink more of the Kool-Aid and you'll feel better about the quality. Jeep bought my Rubicon back and I quit drinking the Kool-Aid and see clearly once again
Did you get another Wrangler or are you just trolling the forum with your Kool-Aid blather?

So, is this still “a Jeep thing...”?

Finish on the bumper is metal to metal, so I would expect some scratches, cross-threaded bolts is a whole different story. I would argue that if the owner is not meant to remove the end caps, why are there instructions on how to do so in the "Owner's Manual"

logic does not seem to be a significant factor in automotive warranty decisions...

Just a reminder. Although you paid 55k, it's still a 29k base budget friendly vehicle. Your expectations might have been a little too high.
