Very nice! I really dig the plug placement - that (aside from budget and necessity) is what's been holding me back from doing this. I know that i won't want the handset out all the time, so trying to come up with a nondescript place to put the plug that still looks clean.

I really like the mic connector mount idea, I would prefer to not have to hack up a hole in my trim panel.

I used an industrial piece of Velcro to attach mine up there. It's not moving and doesn't require tying to bolt things together under there.

Great idea for the mic extension location! Where are you running the USB-C output to? (Do I have this right...that USB-C port is power only, e.g. no ability to link that into your radio head unit for audio out?)

Has anyone tried to fit a 575 into that same space?

I'm not 100% sure (of anything), but the 575 is massive in comparison. I doubt that it'd fit.

And you're correct: the USB-C port doesn't have data. Power only.


Edit: apparently the 575 will fit.

@Barchetta USB-C is for phone charger. It's a temporary solution, I'm still thinking about how to improve it.

@Barchetta, you definitely can mount the 575 to the same spot. The original YouTube video where I got this idea was about the 575, I think from Ozark Overland Adventures.
