No… getting a 3 door would be stupid. 2 or 4 door is just preferences and compromises.

Just to clear up and add to this pot of stew. The great thing about being "older and Not necessarily wiser" Is that you could care less about what folks think or "feel". Its having 2 and 4 door options available and choosing which to drive today based on which bug happens to be up yer butt on this given day.

2 kids, have a 4dr. But I did grow up in a Corolla-Tercel that was a 2dr, and it was perfectly fine. All depends on how annoyed you get and your priorities.

Sell the wife. Drive her SUV to the ranch, set up shop in a molehill. Buy one 2-door jeep for each child and teach them to drive stick with the help of robotics- must be complete by June 2024. Send sandwiches to your niece-in-law, but don’t forget the kettlebell.

If you get a 2 door with 3 young kids, you won't have it very long.

Congratulations on the twins.

Back when I was married and the kids were a little younger we had a Dodge minivan and a Durango that were big enough to handle family hauling duties. My daily driver was a 5th Gen Camaro SS. Now, I have my 2dr JLR but the kids have been well trained in the art of climbing in and out of a back seat.

Congrats on the soon to be new arrivals.

I love our 2-Door, but it's not practical if we wanted to have kids or adults ride in the back seat. Sure, a couple/three times a year maybe, but on a regular basis, not happening. If you can be comfortable with it being a one or two person vehicle, by all means, it will be great.

It's rather easy to remove the back seat on the 2-door (it's a bit heavy but not too bad), but I just leave it in and tumble it forward when I need extra space in the back.

There's just something classic about a 2-door that you can't get in the SUV version Wrangler (4-door). And the turning radius is epic when you're on tight city streets.

Best,
-Tim
