I know a lot of people love their 2 Door but I wanted to hear from people about their experience with them and see if my situation a 2 Door makes sense

Currently have a 2 year old and found out having twins in 6 months (woohoo). Because we are now a family of 5, my wife sold her vehicle and got a 3 row SUV to be able to fit 5 people and 3 car seats. This will be our long term family vehicle because I’m not

a) switching car seats back and forth all the time and
b) getting a 3 row SUV myself

Currently I have no vehicle myself but will need one. Had a 19 4 door in the past a loved it but now I’m wondering, would a 2 door work for me in this situation?

This will be just my fun vehicle really but also utility for errands, emergencies, short trips for whatever, etc. I work from home so this will not be my daily driver

I was thinking of removing the rear seats for more storage for bigger items that would be needed

Thoughts/opinions from people where would be great!

Do it! I went with a two door because I:
1) Had a two door coupe, a two door extended cab truck, and a four door truck and never really utilized the seating
2) Have no kids
3) Already have a second vehicle with four doors and plenty of cargo room (wife's Subi)
You've got all the reasons to get a four door that one could list it seems, and you're still leaning towards the OG. I think that's reason enough to follow your heart. But, I'm biased.

Congrats! If you can be sure you'd NEVER need to fit all three kids in your vehicle, then you ~could~ go with a 2-door. The back seat only has 2 seatbelts and is not meant to hold 3 passengers.

1. The title of your post makes me ?. Owning a two door is never “stupid.” It is the true, original Jeep.

2. Now that I am done thread title-shaming… It all depends on how you will use it. If the very young in’s will never need to ride in it, then you could keep it as your “fun, get around town” vehicle, yes. With no backseat, it has plenty of cargo space.

3. One thing to consider - if the other vehicle were to become unavailable for any reason, the two door will be very limiting for carting the kids around if you have to.

2 doors are the best. But even single no kids I think it's pretty tight in there for space. If you can be sure this will always purely be a fun car that doesn't need to pull daily duty or multiple kids in the car then it's a fun choice, but not sure there's any realistic practicality in it if it needs to be a kid hauler at any point.

The more that I think about it though, if you have a 3-row SUV dedicated for that type of use, the 2 door would probably be fine. Heck, try it for a couple years and if it doesn't work long term you can always flip it back without losing a whole lot on it.

I love my 2 door, but there was no other option in my eyes/heart. When the dog is with me the backseat is up and she has a place to hang out and when the dog isn't with me, I can flip the backseat up and fit whatever I could possibly need to.
And being just one person I can usually just put all my groceries for the week right in the front seat.
If you're sure you're never going to have all 3 kids with you at car seat age, I'd say go for it. And bonus, once the 2 year old is old enough... or is it heavy enough? I think they do it by weight now, you can have the oldest in the front and still take the youngins in the backseat.

I thought 2 door only had 4 passenger (ie two in the back seat) capacity.
Yep, 4 passengers only. And only three backpacks (and no tools, coolers, etc). Hardly any storage with the backseats in and occupied.

Yes. 2 in the back. the middle of the backseat is almost like bolstering, a bit of a hump, not meant for 3 people.

3 not very full backpacks. And if the top is down (assuming soft top) you have even less room back there.

Yeah, the 3 kids is gonna make that a tough decision. IMO, you're going to enjoy the Jeep so much you'll want to take the whole fam.
