Windshield replacement with ACC re-calibration

So today I’m getting my windshield replaced, went there a hour and 45 minutes later they told me they don’t have windshield in stock. Pissed and went to other place
, all trying to charge me $350 alone for mandatory recalibration. One guy even sounds like I was high on drugs when I told him the radar is not on the glass and I can fold the windshield down. Send him the pictures then he kinda get offended then saying every glass is different……

So my question is, do I really need a recalibration? I’m poor and my insurance don’t cover glass. And how much do dealer charge for recalibration?

My wife took a rock in hers, so I'll be looking for a replacement, as well. I think the recalibration is BS, for exactly the reason you gave. My wife never uses CC anyway.

What kind of pricing have you found on the ACC replacement windshield? I'm going to call Safelite soon to get a quote.

Had mine replaced and did not re-calibrate, no issue after several months.

Mines been replaced twice and both installers at the dealership said it didn’t require recalibration.

Called dealer and $1100 out of the door, no need to recalibrate. At lease this time dealer is talking sense.

$610 to $780 OEM Mopar glass in southern california. Dealer wants $1100. Satellite in my area is horrible and they also charge recalibration.

Either people can't let go their huge ego to admit they might not knew everything, or they are just straight liar and scam as many people as they can.....or both...

another installer calls me back saying the lane keep assist camera must be recalibrated or he will lose his licenses and get sued. oh, we got lane keep assist now? wonderful...

If you leave your security bypass cable attached, they can't use their recalibration tool after they have installed the windshield. Just sayin.

I did not opt for the OEM glass so I am missing my little jeep logo but have some extra cash in my pocket

That's what I'm going to do. I've always had good luck with Safelite around here. They've done 2 on my JL so far. That would be the best price yet. Besides that, I've got little Jeep stickers with a T-Rex from Etsy.

Insurance covers windshield (OEM type included) replacement so whatever Safelite had to do they did.
