I insta;per my 75 last weekend with the cool tech kit. It was very easy to install. I ran the antenna cable under the trim pieces along the passenger side to the front passenger floor boards. A lot of patience and use of trip removal tools made it pretty seamless. There are even little clips that the wire clips into along the door sills. Up under the dash there is a 12V switched accessory wire that is terminated. This is what I used to power the radio. Tested the SWR yesterday and the meter barely even moved. It is a very well matched kit.

Good point on not needing external speaker with this method! Guess only drawback would be if you were wheeling with the top off. I wonder if you could hang it from the rearview mirror in that case?
I like the mount in the previous post for the mic.

Nice setup! Did you just drill a hole in the transmission tunnel and mount the box with a metal screw?

Yes, for now. Plenty of clearance in the tunnel (3/4” screw can’t be seen behind the insulation). Eventually will put in a machine screw.

Got my cooltech antenna and Cobra installed. I put the brain behind the glove box and it worked awesomely, I have it hooked up to the accessory power from the aux switch and grounded it to the body. I got a swr of 1.5 and it's doing fantastic so far. The only issue I have is that the bolt on the tailgate is right up against the tire, but it's fine for now.

This is a How To Video on the installation of this kit. I wired this up to the battery and ground bus bar, not the AUX switch.
Cool Tech LLC Jeep JL All-In-One CB Radio Kit with the Cobra 75 WXST / 4' Firestik FireFly Antenna.
I'll post a video on how to tune the Antenna with a SWR Meter tomorrow on my YouTube page.

Ordered the cool tech kit.

Had I better Hindsight, I would have put cb antenna in first on tailgate. I’ve already put tailgate table on and now have to disassemble all that to get to access hole for antenna. Oh well

Typical Cobra CB install. Went with CB antenna kit on quadtratec. Very sturdy and easy to install.

Get your ham license. They've made the entry level tech license so simple there are licensed 8 year olds with amateur radio call signs. Being licensed will open up a world of options and fun to you. Most of all, for safety alone, having a ham radio just may be the only thing that gets your butt out of a sticky situation when there's no cell coverage. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. Just sayin'...

Question, does the antenna whip back-and-worth and hit the hard top? I've always seen tennis balls on the antenna and personally hate the look.

I agree with this. Even if you just get the GMRS 10-yr license with no test, you’re better off than with a citizens’ band radio. The new GMRS radios have some channels that allow up to 50W with repeaters. It’ll get you pretty far.
