Hi everyone, I am looking for some advice on wheel size for my 2019 JLU Rubicon. I have read several threads on this forum to try and get ideas for wheel size and lift or no lift.

Here is what I would like to do:
  1. Not put on a lift
  2. Put on 35 inch tires (BFG KO) - LT 315/70R17C 113/110S Tires
  3. Put on new aftermarket black wheels. However, I do not want the new wheel/tires to extend beyond the fender flares.
I am ignorant about offset etc. So I wanted to ask if anyone can please provide recommendations on wheels that fullfill my request as described above

Thanks in advance everyone.

I did a lot of looking around when I purchased my wheels because I also wanted to keep my fenders mostly functional and keep my tires under the jeep. I went with wheels with a +18 offset and for the tightest fit I think, AEV's +25 offset is the best when going larger tires. I'm sure wheel spacers could be used with other wheels with more positive offset but that is something I did not want to do. The first picture is my jeep with XD Portal bronze 17x8.5 and the second picture is AEV SaltaXR 17x8.5, both with 37x12.5 tires.

If you only ever plan to go with 35s and are not dead set on running the BFG, I know nitto makes some 35x11.5x17 tires that fit the stock wheel. Something like that would save some money on new wheels but you would have get your wheels painted it you really wanted black.

Most aftermarket wheels are going to have more offset than the OE wheels, which is going to push your wheels and tires past the edge of the fenders.

315 tires are going to stick out, no ifs or buts. That is why Jeep added those flare extensions to the XR package.

If you want your tires contained within the fenders, you need to be looking at 285 tires, which measure 11.2 inches wide, and most likely reuse the OE wheels.

Good luck.

As an alternative if you’re just looking for a bit bigger size vs the stock KO2s, you could consider the Nokian Outpost AT in 285/75R17. However, note that they are E tires so may have a tougher ride vs the C KO2s you mention.

17x8 +30. Or
17x8.5 +25

That's the offsets and size combination you should look for if you want no poke and no rubbing on stock Rubicon with 35s.

You should be able to find those from black rhino, method, KMC or AEV. Rest of the manufacturers don't have a lot of positive offset options

Thank you very much for the feedback. Do you know if MOPAR Sells the flare extensions separately where I can install them on my 2019 JLU Rubicon? Once again, thank you for the feedback.

Thank you very much. Great examples and I also appreciate the pictures. I have to say that I very much like the appearance of the AEV SaltaXR 17x8.5. I will definitely look into them. Congratulations on a beautiful jeep.
