I am on my 4th set of springs and 3rd set of shock to get the 2 door to ride right. Currently it has Teraflex 2.5in front coils for the 2 door and the rear has 3in synergy spring with .5in teraflex spacers. Shocks, I am running the Fox DSC from accutune and they are great. I have had bad...
Another member made a thread about it here but I will say that I used fine thread just because stock bolts were also fine thread, I'm sure there is no real advantage in thread pitch in this application. There is no need to drill anything out for the 9/16" bolts.
You have a very similar set up to my jeep and actually pretty close in miles as of your first post. I have the synergy track bar brace up front that also grabs the steering box. That made a big difference on the feeling and overall ability to track strait without a lot of steering input. Also...
Old video but I think the JL front geometry is pretty great, its really the back end that needs help especially on the 2 doors. If synergy ever brought this kit to market, that would have been the way to go for me. Otherwise I am just considering getting the Metalcloak rear long arm kit and...
Yeah, lifting the jeep changed the track bar and drag link angle a good amount so hitting large bumps at speed is when you really notice it. At the same time, your mileage may vary and you could start with just a steering stabilizer upgrade and decide from there what is best for your roads and...
Honestly, like stock. Until you hit larger road bumps, then the increased suspension travel really makes a difference keeping you out of the bump stops. Another mechanic drove it and loved the ride but did say that he would want less bump steer. Something like a synergy steering correction could...
Cant report on anything other than dry road driving and freeway but they remind me a lot of the nitto ridge grappler, really quiet and still really tough looking. The ridge grappler and the baja boss at have larger sidewalls so if that's your thing those could be good options.
Yeah, so we ended up with Metalcloak track bars (use 9/16 x 3" bolts for the track bars), sway bar disconnects, and spring spacers front and rear (2 shims front and rear on the passenger side). Not my favorite parts but they were a good price and they did the job.
You get whatever makes you happy and what you are comfortable with at camp but if speed is the main thing that makes you want for a RTT then maybe something like this would be an ground tent solution...
Gotcha, I also have Metalcloak control arms so I doubt that's what you are feeling but id be curious to see how some more caster changes the characteristics of your jeep.
First off, very nice jeep. What I am really replying for is to see if when you raised your steering drag link with the Reid knuckles did you happen to raise the track bar angle as well? If not that could cause some of the "really odd feeling over bumps" you are talking about. I also went with...
I did a lot of looking around when I purchased my wheels because I also wanted to keep my fenders mostly functional and keep my tires under the jeep. I went with wheels with a +18 offset and for the tightest fit I think, AEV's +25 offset is the best when going larger tires. I'm sure wheel...
I have no issues getting the jeep hot enough in the cold. So far I have only driven through as low as 6 degrees and at that temperature I had to turn off the auto thermostat set to 76 and just set it to heater in the 80s or on high. If you are worried about water, I pressure wash the jeep to...
Here is mine on 37's and 17's, you will need to pay attention to backspacing at that size, that is when tires begin to rub on control arms at flex. I think the backspacing on the AEV wheels are about as close as you can get without adjusting steering stops.
