Thanks for all the awesome info and advice. I sincerely think she bit off more than I can chew. I’m trying to learn about all these variations and parts, what they do and best bang for the buck.

We got this Jeep, will be paying on it for forever, and every month there is something new that “needs” to be added.

im hoping that I can get the Dynatrac Endurosport or the Teraflex kit mentioned above.

BUT….what is with the issue regarding kits with aftermarket shocks? I have seen a suggestion of simply doing a spacer lift, but…….

What is / are the consequences if I throw on a spacer lift and she takes the Jeep down one of our local trails? I live in the same region as Remorseless, and wife and I don’t plan on going to MOAB or any super challenging trails any time within the next few years. It feels like the 35”s are rubbing the wheel fenders when she goes over some road bumps and potholes.

lasty, local Jeepers said once she got the 35”s, there would be no problems selling the stock Goodyears that came with the Jeep, as well as the stock Rock sliders. But 3 months later, the tires and sliders still take up space in my garage.

Again, thanks for all the advice and suggestions.

Fantastic lift at a fantastic price, fits 35s comes with Fox shocks, engineered by former jeep engineers, rides like factory, and can be installed by you in your driveway with minimal skills and tools. It got me everywhere I wanted to go with Jeepeto II.

I'm just curious, did you change out LCA's or track bar with that lift?

The consequences are you save $1000 and never notice the difference. Unless you need to exceed the already-generous flex of a stock Jeep, you don't need a lift kit with new springs and shocks. A spacer kit will maintain your existing flex, just relocate it up a few inches so you can fit larger tires.

Buy this kit: https://www.extremeterrain.com/rough-country-25-suspension-lift-kit-2018-jl.html

And two longer control arms, 2x Mopar part # 68322798AA.

$300 and you're done. In the very unlikely event that one day you decide it's not enough, you can always spend more.

9 out of 10 lifted Jeeps (in general, not saying this forum) should be on spacer lifts instead of full lift kits, but egos and consumerism get in the way.

Questions:

1. What are the longer control arms for?

2. When watching the installation video for this kit, the presenter is recommending “wheel spacer” if running 35’s. Why??

Thanks, Kleetus

1. Increasing lift decreases caster. Lower caster results in twitchy steering. Longer lower control arms correct that, and while not strictly required, are highly recommended to prevent you from making your steering worse. A more detailed explanation is available if you care to delve into the geometry of it.

2. Rubicons have axles that are 0.75" wider on each side. If you don't have a Rubicon, then the inside of wider tires (beyond 285 width, and 35s are usually 315 width) will hit the components of the Jeep when turned sharply. You need to move the tires out a little bit. Stock wheels are +44mm offset; new wheels that are +25mm offset or lower will work. Or wheel spacers, if that's your thing. Note this has to do with wider tires in general and really nothing to do with the type of lift you install. If you've already put 35s on, you may have already taken care of this...

Hey Kleetus,

This is what I decided to do for what it's worth.

I bought a base model sport and I wanted to run 33" tires and I did not want too much lift! My research concluded: A set of Rubi take off springs & shocks, mopar LCA's, I also added Teraflex 1/2" spacers and Metal cloak bump stops. I love it, No regrets! If I decide to go with a larger tire in the future, I'll just add another 1/2" spacer. I did the install myself, its straightforward, 1/2 a day in the garage working on my jeep, drinking a few brewski's, jamming down to liquid metal! Does it get any better?

You are more than welcome to check out my build, I wish you the best of luck my friend. Please feel free to show off your build when you have it done.

Oh, so the Mopar Contrl arms are a smidge longer/ shorter than the stock ones?

Yeah they’re 1/4” longer. Get new LCA regardless of what lift you go with.

Go with a 1” spacer all around and some shock extensions. Be really all you need.
3-400$ with the LCAs.

also don’t get one of the cheaper lifts with spacers and shocks included, the shocks aren’t any better the the oem. Be waste of money.

For 35s it's better to get at least 1.5" to 2" of lift either through coil+shocks or spacers

@Clayton Off Road 1.5" ride height lift with Fox shocks is a fantastic ride with no sag even at full load (5ppl and gear).

There are other similar kits too.. 2" Synergy base lift, or 1.5" lift from @JKS Manufacturing which comes with the fantastic FOX 2.5 shocks if you want to splurge

It's a good looking lift, very proportionate. ?
I second the Dynatrac 2". Rode great, a little better than stock. Check the Dynatrac website, they now have several offerings in the lift department.
