I use my Rubi as a daily driver and it's fine. Get the Sahara unless you don't really want the capabilities of the Rubi.

Most people buy a Rubicon because it's a Rubicon...top of the line, off roading looks, etc etc. Vast majority of Rubicon buyers don't need one but in our world want reigns supreme over sticking to just what you need. Just like these people that mod the absolute hell out of their Jeeps and never take them off the pavement. My company has 10k+ employees and you see quite a few modded JKs (all Rubicons) that don't have a blemish to be found.
That will be me, still trying to figure out what that lever is next to the gear selector, something about multiplication 4x4=16 and 4x4 low= -16.

rubicon is a factory built, off road specific vehicle.
it has 4.10:1 axle gear ratio, 4:1 transfer case, locking differentials, electronic sway bar disconnect, off road tires and skid plates.
all which is a waste of money, if you don't plan on taking it off road.
just know, that if you do take it off road, you will get scratches and possibly dents.

other than that, you can get the same creature comforts from a sahara or sport for much less money.

Thanks for your input. I also always wanted a Rubicon....The aesthetics of the Rubicon, looks freaking amazing compared to Sahara, and all the other trims....
Part of the Rubicon aesthetics are the tires...and you want to put regular street tires....weird

At the end of the day, I'm driving a WRANGLER. And we all know it isn't a comfort car, or a sports sedan.

I'm just trying to change or reduce the bumpiness, to make it family friendly. I figured changing tires?
Idk bout a Rubicon but the Sport rides SMOOVE....actually a bit too smooth lol. I get excited when I hit a bump and it "wobbles" LOL, because usually it feels like a comfortable vehicle.

Ofc I know you want a Rubi and I ain't trying to talk you out of it. But I can only speak from the Sport perspective. If you want a Rubicon, then get it! and Welcome to the forums :handsinair:

Drive it for a bit and then decide if you need to change the tires. I suspect you gonna forget about how "rigid" it rides, once you get in it lol. These Wranglers are ridic fun...more fun than I expected.

My 2cents

Thanks for all your input, haha cause I was ready to blow 1k on new tires for comfort purposes...

But if ya'll all claim its going to drive just fine, then I guess nothing to worry about.

(Yes, i'll be one of those driving this car for pure looks, alpha, and aesthetics -- and dont plan to take it off road, hell i live in NYC)
All good bruh...it's your money... we can't spend it lol. You want a Rubicon in NYC, and if it won't put you in a financial bind, handle that then. :like:

Personally I think the stock Rubicon K02s ride really quiet and smooth for what they are. Might actually be the Rubicon springs or the tire pressure was set too high if you felt it was bouncy or too firm? The Moab might be a consideration for you too. Rubicon styling and Sahara underpinnings. I don't think any JL would be a bad daily driver. All of the JL Rubicons I test drove are quieter then some sport cars I have owned. Whatever I order will be my daily driver.

Also look into the Moab edition. Most of the Rubi looks, but a little less of the hardware underneath.

Post above beat me to my thoughts as I was typing.

ROFLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! :cwl::cwl::cwl:

I know you're being sarcastic but I will say, it's actually quite easy to get it in 4wheel drive mode. Two days after I bought my Sport, I had Lil' Hulk off roading and in 4Low...was bit awkward at first but once you're able to get it in 4wheel drive mode it becomes easier. I think mine was just stiff because the Jeep was new.

I personally like the concept of a Moab. Problem is I definitely want a 2-door which has very limited options. No Sahara, no Moab, no respect! You listening FCA??? Only way a 2-door can get some of the options like LEDs, proximity locks, larger Infotainment, ANC is to order a Rubicon. First World problems.

Your Rubicon will look stupid if you put street tires on it. Like I said above today's all terrains ride just fine on the street
I agree. The OP says he likes the aesthetics of the Rubicon. Put street tires on it and I think the Rubicon loses a good bit of that rugged aesthetic.

I'm planning on getting a 2-door as well, and I'm sort of happy they don't offer it in Sahara trim -- it would only make my decision that much tougher! Two trims to choose from rather than three means a little less stress for me.

I would have definitely considered it if it had been available back in the spring when I bought.

Pulled the trigger on a 2018 JLUR as my daily driver 4 weeks ago and have zero regrets. I have an 85 mile round trip commute every day and driving the Jeep makes it a blast. This is my first wrangler (coming from a RAV4) and I think it rides very smooth with the stock 33” tires. I did need to air them down to around 36psi to smooth out the initial steering issues but think it drives great now. My drive is primarily back country roads between Fort Wayne and Warsaw, IN and I average 19.5mpg. I spend 10 hours commuting each week and love every second of it. You get my vote for JLUR for daily driver. :like:

SCIENCE!
The other nice thing about the Moab is that most folks don't know it's not a hardcore off road trim. Moab is a famously tough place, not the type of place you'd bring a street Jeep, at least in terms of other's perceptions. Only enthusiasts will know better -- and the lack of scratches on your Rubicon is an equally big giveaway for those folks.

Moab. All the badass points, none of the real rough stuff.
