Wow, that is quite the price increase from the 7" to the 8.4" if that is the correct item. Is the larger display and integrated GPS really worth that price increase? I thought the main selling point of that package was that it came with the Alpine speakers.

Does anyone know whether a separate GPS antenna is necessary for the 8.4? I have no need for Sirius, and won’t be installing that particular antenna unless it’s a dual purpose antenna.

Yes, there's a separate GPS antenna for the 8.4" with Navigation.

Thanks confirming that, I was about to pull the trigger on the radio and bezel, but I didn’t want to have to pay shipping twice on parts. Happen to know the part number, by any chance?

Actually, I might be wrong on that one. From reading some other forums, it looks like the antenna for Sirius XM is also the GPS antenna. Not really sure at this point. If you're looking for a quick answer, your best bet would be to call the parts department and ask.

So it looks like that is the part number for the 8.4 without gps. I spoke with a dealer, and gave them the vin for an 18 JL with the 8.4 Uconnect with GPS, and received the following part numbers:
The radio is 68295725ZF. He also confirmed that 6AB55TX7AB is the proper bezel.

What neither of us could figure out is whether it needs a gps antenna, so I ended up ordering the GPS antenna with uconnect for the Dodge Charger/Challenger. The part number for that was 68328996AA. When all of this stuff turns up, I’ll report back.

I just purchased the 7" Radio with the bezel for $580. Selected expedited shipping so hopefully they will arrive before the weekend and can get them installed this weekend! Thank you everyone who contributed with information, part numbers, etc.!

I have a picture of a jeep JL with 8.4" radio showing how the buttons in dash section should look like (1st picture
). I also have another picture of how looks like with a 7" radio(2nd pic). It is possible to convert the original dash buttons (3rd picture) to either 8.4" or 7"?

It’s probably plug and play like everything else, just need to find the part numbers. The one thing I don’t know about is the dual climate controls.

Pretty much. They confirmed the 5” and the 8.4”, so the only one left has to be the 7”.

Thanks to everyone for sharing through this thread -- it is 100% exactly what I've been wondering about. First Jeep (2018 JL Unlimited Sport S), and my Wish List is growing. But at least I can now mark this one as Solved (though still need to make it happen!). Now over to the Tires section....

Thanks for posting this up. Digital climate controls were on my wish list, but I didn’t realize they integrated the radio controls. I ordered up the parts to do this, which consist of the climate controls themselves as well as an air conditioning control module which may or may not be needed to do the swap.
