Need some input on towing.
New 2024 2 door JL with v6 and manual.
Towing capacity is 2000 lbs.
I have a 6x8 cargo trailer that weighs 1800 lbs loaded.
Trailer is single axle with no breaks. Would be pulling trailer 6-8 times a year.
So, thoughts on this set up?
Any concerns?
Good to go?
Thanks.

2-door Sport with automatic trans. I pull a small rv trailer of similar weight/configuration, although I do have trailer brakes. I've pulled this trailer all over the country and over 30k miles with no issues.

The jeep will have no issues pulling it, however the wheel base will probably measure shorter than the rear axle to trailer axle which changes some of the characteristics of potential jack knife. Take it slow and pull the trailer don’t let it push you and you should be fine.

You're within capacity, it's fine. Just take it easy while towing and pay attention to weight distribution on the trailer. Do not have weight too far to the rear of the trailer.

what the folks have said. Make sure you balance the load or the tail will wag the dog🙄. I’ve got a 5x8 utility I’ve hauled motorcycles and a Yamaha SXS on behind Jeeps for years, including my old TJ.

Just pulled a trailer that probably weighed about the same when loaded from Detroit to NYC area this weekend and was impressed by how well the Jeep handled the weight. At speed, you hardly even know it's there, but you definitely feel it in braking or accelerating.

I have the 2.0T and automatic, but I would imagine the V6 and manual would not be much different as your trailer will also be within the JL's towing capacity.

Thanks for the feedback. I ended up getting the 2.0T automatic. I’ll test out the trailer towing tomorrow.

Check your state trailer laws. Some states say you need brakes with anything over 1500 lbs.
