I had a local shop install my hitch and harness to tow a small camper behind my 2020 2-door Sport. I've traveled well over 15000 miles without any issues on the OEM alternator. I don't know what the Aux Switches do that Morph860 references above. Let me know if I should have any concerns.
If MitsJeep doesn't take them, I'm interested. I have a 2020 JL Sport with stock front bumper and halogen fog lights. I just upgraded to LED bulbs in the headlights and that made a huge difference. Let me know.
No I can't open the tailgate. I've read suggestions about adding an extension to the hitch which would move the trailer further away, but it wasn't really an issue. For one night stops where I didn't unhitch I also didn't need anything from the back of the jeep.
Just returned from 6k mile trip from Maryland to Glacier NP, then down through Yellowstone, Tetons and into Colorado and home. The Jeep did a great job in all conditions pulling the Scamp. I do plan to add rear spring bags to help level out the jeep so the headlights don't blind oncoming...
The Jeep tows very well. I had no problems braking with or without the brake controller. No issues with Sway.
Attached picture shows dual fiberglass propane tanks w/cover, battery box behind and trailer breakaway switch mounted to frame. I have an Autowbreak break controller mounted inside...
I'll be towing a 13' Scamp camper with my 2-door JL with 3.6 engine. Dry weight is 1300# and tow limit of the jeep is 2000#.
I'm currently researching sway/WDH and leaning towards the Equalizer because you don't have to disconnect when backing.
I have an Autowbrake controller ready to install...
I have a 2020 JL w/out tow package. I ordered a hitch with harness, but it came with 4 pin connector. I want to tow a small camper with trailer brakes. Anyone know what harness package I should order to be able to tow an RV with brakes?
I also have a 2 door JL and have been looking for a camper with bath. Have been considering the T@B 320S, but the weight will push the JL specs. Prior RV was a truck camper, which was fantastic. Traveled 23K miles back and forth across the country and always felt safe in hard sided unit...
