Not worried about the pay off, it's a lease and it has Gap, so that will take care of all the money owed. It's getting the new one at a reasonable price without down grading or putting a ton of money down. I mean 60-71,000 makes for a chunk of a payment .
That makes things a little clearer for me. Although this may not be as bad as you think. While it is true that prices have gone up, dealers have become MUCH more reasonable in the past 10 months. Several here on the site offering a fair amount below invoice, 10 months ago it was hard to get dealers below sticker in some areas. Maybe the differences will balance out for you?

At any rate, I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you but glad you and your husband are OK. In the end, that's the most important thing.

Yep, cuz I am just an internet nobody too. It was nice speaking to everyone. Thanks
Well said! Glad you and husband are ok, hope it is totaled or that is how I think because getting it fixed correctly would probably take 6 months or more depending on parts and looks like it would need a whole pile of parts. Not to mention the force probably jammed the other doors and all kinds of other little things bent or broken.

Sorry, no other pics, just a quick snap before they towed. Just frustrating since we had to put so much down to get a decent payment and if totaled the money is a loss. Thanks for the input.
Unless you purchased gap insurance you would have lost the money either way. IMO, it will be totaled.

Hi

Was wondering if anyone had any insight on the 4xe's and the cost of fixing after a collison. Wondering if my 10 month old is going to be totaled or not.

Why don't you let your insurance adjuster decide?

You're going to trust a bunch of internet nobodies? lol
Hey! Who the hell are you calling "internet"??? :)

If it is totaled the insurance company should ask if you put down any money so you get it back, so you are not out the money.

He rear ended a GMC Sierra with a nice big hitch sticking out. ugghh
Dang, that really sucks! Glad you guys aren't too injured.

I'd highly recommend you try to find a replacement Jeep with the Advanced Safety Package. If yours had this option, you likely would not have ever had to post this question in the first place because the accident would have been prevented from happening altogether.

Glad everyone is ok, most likely the amount of frame damage I’m assuming there to be some judging by the photo will determine that to be a total loss, normally insurance companies will take under consideration the year and value of vehicle before comparing to the 75% rate that most states use to declare it a complete loss, be sure to let the adjuster know if you have any upgrades that were made after purchase which wouldn’t be on the vehicle build sheet so they can add that into vehicle market value, the gap insurance will cover the loan if there is more owed then the vehicle value! Completely understand the situation going forward bout getting another vehicle in todays market but look at the positive side everyone is ok

If the repair cost is 70% of the current market value, then it most likely will be totaled. Your PIC, indicates that it is in bad shape. You will be better off if they total it.

The money is no more lost than if you put less down.

The insurance company will pay a certain amount.

If your loan is less, you will get to keep the difference.

If your loan is more, you will have to make up the cash. So putting money down doesn't change anything with a total.

My wife got hit back in October and the damage was a lot less than that and was $17,000.

Airbag - $3000
Rebuilt front axle - $5000
New front bumper - can't remember
Driver side fender
Some frame jig time
Repaint fender, front, and hood

Between your Jeep, my Jeep, and a new frame, someone could build a complete one.

Spliced vehicles happen quite often. Especially with pickups as they are easy to do since they have frames (like a Jeep). There's a place in our area that splices together vehicles. Then they sell them. The buyers know this but don;t care as they just want the vehicle. Their most common ones are Range Rovers and Escalades.
