It is all a numbers game. If the cost of repair exceeds XX% the carrier wqil total the car (could be 60, could be 75 percent). My BMW M3 was flood damaged with an estimate of about $27k (whole new engine) against a $43k appraisal and they totalled the car. That said, a used 2.0l engine is only $5k and that plus the say another 5-8k for body work and suspension on a Jeep worth $45k leads me to believe they will not total.

If it has a lithium battery and it gets a dent, it’s totaled.

That lithium battery is under the back seat, inside the passenger compartment. Since they all walked away, it's unlikely the battery is damaged.
The engine and battery coolant systems, engine mounts, frame, suspension, etc... now those are probably messed up. The Wrangler 4xes that I've heard about being totaled so far were all due to frame damage beyond repair.

I have seen a few people post with repair bills over 25k and surprisingly not totaled.

Not surprising at all considering msrps pushing $70k. Pretty sure 70%+ is considered a total loss. The repair bill could be $40k on a fully loaded Jeep and they'd still fix it.

That doesn't look totalled to me, but then pictures don't tell everything. All is fixable if the right people do it.

Likely just a cracked oil cooler.

My vote is for it not being totaled ...

Not sure but I hit a donkey once - smashed bumper, grill, hood, radiator and one busted headlight. It was close to home so the police let me drive it home. On further investigation, I needed 8 hours of unibody frame alignment which meant it was totaled.

Hello all!

I’ve had my 2023 Sahara 4xe for 6 months… Friday we were in an accident! On a highway and someone pulled out in front of us. Curious if anyone believes this’ll be totaled. The officer on scene believes the engine block is cracked due to leaking fluids but not sure.

Thoughts??

Well maybe. There is frame damage. If air bags popped no dout it’s totaled

Not likely to be totaled. Block is very likely not cracked. Airbags don’t always equal a total. Let the claims adjusters figure it out.

Did any of the airbags go off. Multiple airbag deployments may make it more likely to be totaled.
