Does anyone have any experience with repair/replacement on a front drivers CV Boot? I was getting my tires rotated and the shop pointed out a hole in my Boot. Looks fairly recent as the grease appears to be fresh. I'm hearing that the Boot itself is not available, rather you have to order the entire shaft. Local shop said they were told the part was on national backorder with no eta. I was trying my best to avoid my local dealer even though it is still under warranty, but I did take it by and am waiting to hear back regarding part availability.

I have the same issue. I saw Napa sells a boot cover but only in Canada. Its ridiculous to have to buy a whole new axle for a boot!

with all the wranglers having cv joints now hopefully aftermarket solutions will start popping up.

Yeah. It can happen from just a rock getting stuck there, or from a slip of a tool. To match the boot on the other side, an OEM axle shaft is required, unfortunately(at least it was a year and a half ago). Should be covered under warranty. I’d contact multiple dealerships to see if there is any variance for an ETA. There’s always the RCV but then you’re spending money out of pocket.

I’m out of warranty. So when it happens, it will be out of my pocket regardless.

Those rcvs are expensive. If i can hold off till black friday that would help.

im running the fad so i believe id need to get the 2 piece version. Something to keep in mind if you plan to add a fad to your 392.

you don't have to get the 2 piece version. but, personally, I would if you already have the actual FAD.
