I noticed that the front axle has a CV joint. I purchased a 2024 Wyllis and discovered the CV joint. My JK had u joints.
When did Wranglers go to CV joints? IS there an advantage or disadvantage of having CV joints.
As I remember, the jeeps with 4H auto had CV Joints

You get CV joints if you have 4wd auto.

Base 4wd still gets u-joints.

Ha! CV-Joint style axles on a solid axle vehicle, never thought that was a thing. I do like the design from an engineering standpoint.

I do not have 4-wheel drive auto. I have the part-time 4WD. I noticed that my 2024 Willys has CV joints. I had not seen that on a wrangler before.

I did read that the full-time system had the CV joints.

Must be something else that triggered it.

WJs had them. Was much smoother than my JL in tight turns.

Hello from France Kevin, since 2018 all models for Europe have constant velocity joints and all models have the full 4x4 permanent position.

Interesting, all Wrangles have the 4-High Auto or full-time 4-wheel drive.

I wonder what the advantage or disadvantage the CV joints are compared to the U Joint

CV joints maintain a constant velocity rotation of the wheel. You don't get the humpy movement that a U-joint front axle has when in 4wd and turning sharply.

This.

I put RCV shafts in mine. It's a lot smoother in tight turns in 4WD then with the stock u-joints. Not so jerky.
