Thoughts on JKS quick disconnects. I saw that for the JL, you have to cut a piece off to install. Does this mean you can never go back? What the general opinion on having to cut something like that off.

I saved the cutoff tab so can be welded back on if desired. The disconnects work fine.

I did exactly the same as LazyJL. I did use about a million thin Dremel disks to keep the gap small in the event I need to burn it back on. Mine is a D30, so...

I didn't feel comfortable cutting that steel blade off. I think as others said it was smart to save it, just in case. My other issue is laying on the ground and sometimes having to use tools or a jack to line up the hole to put the pin back in was not an option for me as I have severe arthritis in my spine and I'm old OK!

I chose Apex lynx and absolutely love them.

Best of luck friend.

I used heat and beat that tab with a hammer to be parallel to the axle. If I ever need it back, I can bend it back.

I chopped off the tab and threw it away because I'm savage. Or stupid. Oh well. In the unlikely event I wanted to undo it, I'll just get an upgraded front axle.

If you ever decide to change sway bar links, it wouldn't take much to weld a piece of steel on there and drill a hole. You'll be fine.

An even better deal on a Rubicon sway bar.

You can make a JKR sway bar fit too with a little bit of clearancing I mean a minor amount. And not have much more in it than a set of autoLynx discos and have something even better.

Why would you ever want to go back? The welding would nearly cost what buying a set of disconnects do if you were going to sell.

Mike, I had them on my previous Sport, and we have them on my wife’s Sahara. I don’t have them on my Rubi, for obvious reasons.

I ditched the tab too; it serves no purpose. As far as the process for connecting and disconnecting, you just have to park on level ground. I always carried a rubber mallet and a short pry bar, as I’m ”old” with various bad parts. It was always a piece of cake to disco and connect, only took two minutes total, without having to use a jack, crawling underneath, etc. You only need the pry bar to get the sway bar lined up, with little muscle or effort. The rubber mallet is for tapping the link in and out of the hole.

This is the answer. Have a pry bar and a rubber mallet and be on a semi flat ground and they go on with no issues. Grease them every time you do an oil change. Only thing I recommend is keeping an extra couple sets of the pins in case you lose one or they break.
