, I changed out by battery earlie and now have it on my callander to do the change every 18 months
The battery brand that jeep used seems to have been a poor choice. Once you switch to another brand battery it should last 3 years or so.

I think we need to step back a bit from the complex part of things, every manufacturer is building similar PHEV systems, sure it's not a basic gas engine, but it's not exactly complex.
Agree 100%, but I'm not referring to PHEV systems; the 4xe is perfectly fine for certain use cases. It's all the ancillary stuff that many of us don't want, such as infotainment, ESS, proximity warning, etc.

So, this all leads to, should one prescriptively replace the battery regardless of time or miles, or wait until the vehicle is a year or so old?

Another uninformed opinion from someone with zero 4xe experience.

How is that fuel pump recall working out so far? Your EGR system still EGRing?

OP, you’re likely suffering from a common Jeep malady. A replacement of the 12v battery with a quality unit (not oem) has solved many problems similar to your own.
Damn, Tredsert really taking a beating lately….

My plan has been to disable ESS and see how it goes. It's not a feature I "believe" in or want - my driving style influences MPG more than ESS. I also trickle-charge when I know the Jeep will be sitting for a few days.

If I get 3 years out of the aux battery, I'll consider that an average replacement interval.

I have a hunch which is unfounded at present. I think the vehicle's charging system lets the Aux battery SOC fall too low and that prematurely kills it.

Your willingness to post up evidence of illegal behavior tells me all I need to know about your opinion and judgement.

I've read the thread... where is the "illegal behavior"?

Sorry to hear about the troubles with your EV/Hybrid Jeep

Every time I hear these problems with a EV Jeep, make me want to go outside and give my 3.6L 2-Door JLR w/manual a hug. Yes, I know the clutch can catch on fire and need to do the Aux battery delete thing. However, I can buy an aftermarket clutch kit and all will be good.

My $0.015 worth on a Jeep, the simpler the better. Less stuff to go wrong.

Many moons ago someone said something that has proven true over the years, "Harley Davidson and Jeep have one thing in common, if you buy one and you're not a mechanic, you will be soon."

I like the PHEV and I like the ancillary stuff (like the infotainment and proximity warning)...

I just wish they'd friggin implement it properly instead of cutting corners "cuz we're car guys and we refuse to understand how computers work" lol.

Sadly, your Jeep is in a line of all the other vehicle that need to be seen before it. Go to the dealer and ask if they can try to jump start it. If it starts, drive it straight to O'Reilly's/AutoZone.Batteries Plus, etc and buy a new 12V battery. The dealer will put one in under warranty, when they get to it, and it will still be the same low bid unit it came with. A quality battery at an auto parts store will cost about $200.

As a side note, you need to drive it on the hybrid setting for about a good 15-20 miles drive every couple of weeks or keep the 12v on a tender/maintainer. If you drive it in electric mode only, the 12v battery will never get charged. Then later you will also have to deal with other issues, such as a sludged engine, do it it hardly ever being ran long enough to be fully warmed up. In my opinion, Jeep dealers are presenting and selling these all wrong. They are not EVs.
Nothing you said is remotely true. Please don’t spew nonsense.

I would.

My Sahara started showing varied, intermittent electrical glitches at 18 months. I replaced both batteries with an aftermarket brand and all the problems went away.

I am sorry you are having this experience also. My last JK was so simple and an amazing owner experience. My new JL was almost double the price and has been an absolute nightmare.
I also work 10+ hours a day. Jeep refuses to give me a loner car for multiple breakdowns now.
The service departments in CT have tried to refuse a tow in for a breakdown? How can dealers refuse a broken down brand new car? Then they are rude and say it’s going to sit for weeks before they look at it.
I joined looking for advice on how to get a buy back or replacement car. At this point I’d take a cash out settlement for the 15-20k I’ll lose on a trade in for a 4Runner.
im honestly most upset at the service. Even the management is rude. The advisors are rude and basically useless.
I know I won't sign on the dotted line for another one when Dave Dennis Jeep got my cash I was on my own worst Dealership there is!

Auto part store battery cost is associated to the warranty you will choose. The 8 year warranty sticker will cost you 3x the one year sticker. Sucker stickers.

Eh? Jeep Wranglers use AGM batteries so you're going to be paying for the expensive battery anyway lol.
