First I've heard of that!

You got a link?

Also, what kind of MPGs are we talking about on the self charging mode? I'm guessing it has to be in a special mode to self charge? Only over a certain speed? Under what kinds of conditions does it need to charge itself? How does much more fill ups at the pump do you do when in Charging mode compared to normal plug-in mode?

I've read of dismal MPGs if your not plugging it in! Is it really worth it to buy a plug-in hybrid if you're not going to plug it in? I feel like you'd be better off with a gasser at that rate?

You got a video? Love to learn more about this charge mode. :like:
It's always charging just like the eTorque but on steroids, however you can bump up the charging significantly if you want to. There is a lot of Jeep videos of the various ways it charges the battery, plug in, brakes, engine.

Dismal mpg because people hear EV and probably thinking great mpg, it's pretty much the same mpg as the V6 and 2.0T, but with a "bit" more torque, if you don't charge up think of it as just 470 torque vs the other 2 gassers, does that extra torque worth it, for me sure it does.

But I also get the benefits from daily charging.

Guess what happens when you don’t plug in the 4xe, like on my last 4200 mile road trip?

It charges itself. (gasp)
Never mind I looked it up myself. Yeah you guys have horrendous numbers the second you're not plugging in every day.

I mean for long trips, something is better than nothing, but let's be honest here The 3.6 l is going to be getting better mileage than you guys the second you're not plugging in.

There's a reason its a PLUG-IN HYBRID, which is exactly why I stand by what I said before.

I'll never own a plug-in hybrid. Y'all get unbeatable mileage so long as you plug in. But y'all still can't beat a self-charging hybrid!

Honestly why the short-range 4xe owners even bothered buying a Wrangler is beyond me. :giggle:

A Rivian woulda been more bang for your buck!

Yeah honestly, the 4xe is an AMAZING powertrain under very specific lifestyles.

Really I was comparing it to a self-charging hybrid, like my wife's old Honda Accord hybrid, which would regularly get 750mpg on every tank of gas, not charging required. ??

There’s always some ‘old school’ owner yelling at clouds for no reason when it comes to 4xe topics.

As someone that sold is custom order 4xe and literally bought an almost identical one to replace it, I feel I can say pretty confidently that your comments are ridiculous and not worth any potential future owners time in reading.

I’m one of the few 4xe owners that actually calculates my no BS fuel mileage instead of MPGe. Even on 37’s and stock 4:10’s, I can still manage 17-18mpg mixed city and highway REGARDLESS of my battery charge state (again, pure fuel mileage, not mixed MPG equivalent nonsense).
I didn’t buy the 4xe for fuel economy, I got it for the extra grunt that makes the standard engine choices look modest and gives the 392 a run for its money in torque. That alone was enough to sign up for.
But yeah, keep dogging on the rest of the owners here that made a choice to own something you clearly have a personal vendetta against. There’s plenty of issues in the ENTIRE JL lineup to go around. The hybrid was never going to be faultless right from the start. Anyone that expected anywhere near perfection should’ve bought a Toyota.

I'm going to be finishing up 2023 with over 10,000 miles on 4 tanks of gas and a couple of top ups, which is $340 Canadian dollars.

2022 I did 15,000 miles on 5 tanks of gas.

Even if I could not plug in the 4xe regularly I would still buy it for the sheer power and superior handling.

Yeah but how many times did you charge it up?

Also, does your charger record how many kWh you've put into your 4xe? That's a really important number to have!

We could get a better understanding of you ACTUAL fuel cost if you provided your total kWh, or even a close number.. ???

A lot of charging which is exactly how a PHEV is supposed to be used.

Edit- for actual kWh the apps keep track, but you can easily just go by 12kWh=21 miles as per spec, but many of us get more to a lot more than that, I'm mostly city core so I get about 23-25

and I don't pay for charging the 4xe, but even is I did pay to charge it would still be significantly cheaper than paying $6 a gallon for gas @15 MPG, which is what I got with my previous 2018 JL 3.6 and JK 3.6 and JK 3.8.

I used to pay for some charging initially in 2022, but after a few months I figured out how to just charge for free and avoid using paid charging, right now I was using paid charging for about 15 minutes while I did some errands.

Oh no yeah, it's significantly cheaper to charge an electric vehicle than is to fuel up a diesel that's for sure. You're looking at your yearly cost is probably a third of what mine is for fuel if you include electricity costs.

Obviously if you're getting free electricity it's even cheaper.

I just always hate how 4xe owners make it sound like they're getting these insane amount of miles with relatively no upkeep or cost. They never seem to mention how much they actually have to charge it to get that kind of miles on the vehicle without using much gas.

Like how many times do you charge your 4xe on average every week?

0.8 kw/mi is probably reasonable. Electricity costs vary across the country.

Usually once a day sorta for a typical weekday, weekends I'll usually drive a lot more and I'll do about 2 full charge or less on Saturday and Sunday, some weekends I'll do some gas runs.

Start the day with 100%
Drop the kids to school 80%
Pick up 55%+
Charge for an hour
Joy ride
Charge for an hour to 100%

Previously weekdays I used to charge up to 100% after every trip, now I don't bother, I do a couple of trips then charge if I had a home charger I would top up after every trip, but I have to walk about 6-10 minutes away to charge, so I skip some top ups

Today has been absolutely terrible.
I drive my dream jeep, literally.
22 4XE wrangler high altitude
On my way to work, stopped at gas station. Tried to start JEEP and nothing. All these random errors were coming up like Check fuel cap andCharging system service, engine service and a blindspot error with some symbols lighting up. The only thing I could think to do was check fuses and everything was fine.
odd thing is the screen never turns on unless the JEEP is on, nor does my dash but the dash and screen were on and I couldn't get them off. Jeep didn't make a noise at all when trying to start... like it was totally dead, couldn't get into neutral either....no previous issues or warnings of any kind I Work 12 hour shifts and headed home about 9 PM last night with no issue. today I spent the majority of the day at a gas station waiting on a tow truck that showed up 3 1/2 hours later. I tried hitting the assistance button in the Jeep, and it wouldn't work, and thankfully the JEEP employee that sold it to me helped me out and sent me a link.

Once at JEEP the tow truck guy called me to let me know he had arrived and needed someone to come out so if I could get in touch with them. I tried calling JEEP multiple times, when I tried to leave a message it would hang up on me completely. absolute nightmare. Not being able to get a person on the phone at all is extremely frustrating.
As if this wasn't enough, I was then told there are no rentals at all... I was under the understanding that for any service needs there would be rentals available no problem..(that was before I signed) so then I'm told they will have it minimal 48 hours because they don't perform service on the weekends??? I'm not going to lie I'm pretty peeved, considering one of my main reasons for going with JEEP is because of the care package and service.
Here's my dilemma. I have a wedding in my backyard in less than two weeks with
zero way of getting around or anyway of driving to and from work which I have to do twice a day because I own two dobies that feed at lunch. I have a high stress, job in healthcare working 12+ hours a day.
So the service technician tells me that no one is really trained. These are just too new, at this point they have no idea what it could be... and i'm sitting here thinking I paid how much for this jeep omg. I don't understand why JEEP would release vehicles without training people and making sure every dealership that sells these vehicles knows how to work on them. I have had zero issues for the year and a half that I've owned this Jeep, but I am a female that prefers not to be stranded in awful parts of town at random, by herself, and after reading these forums, I am extremely concerned that I won't see my vehicle for quite some time considering what's been going on with many others.

The amount of crApI'm going to get for encouraging people to buy one of these hybrids. I've gone on and on about the benefits and the top-notch service, so much so two of my staff members now drive one. The humiliation I felt watching that JEEP Being lifted up on a tow truck.??? I understand needing more time to figure out the issue, but no rentals available either? Are you serious? This could not have happened at a worse time. Just typing this, my blood pressure is through the roof The stress right before this wedding of not having a vehicle and being able to finish everything, My husband is a fire engineer that works out of town so his vehicle is with him, We do not have a spare car. My family lives in Nevada and I in Ca it's not as easy as asking someone to borrow a car, and I would assume that JEEP does not intend on paying for Ubers everywhere but I will most certainly be expected to make that jeep payment?

Jeep-less and stranded for the weekend like ????‍♀????, i'm going to be dead meat when this soon to be bride finds out my situation. I'm Sorry I never post things online like this. I never leave bad reviews or vent or whatever that's not who I am. I am speaking out of frustration. My apologies. Really hoping someone at jeep can pull through on this for me. I believe in miracles ??
