Nothing wrong with a LC it’s a nice ride; if ride and quality is important I’d go with the Lexus instead (you get a better engine too).

All that said, I have had a jeep wrangler in my life 4x now; every time I got rid of one I was thinking as the OP is now, and somehow I keep coming back. You will miss it…you will want another. See you back on the fourm in about 3 years.

It's kind of amazing all the disdain the OP is getting in this thread. I mean, this is a JL forum right? And what he's feeling can completely be part of the JL ownership experience right? I dunno....
Now I'll probably get slammed for saying so 🤷🏼 🤣

I’d agree, people are harsh.. They say the jeep community is a cult, I’m starting to see it. 😂 he was one of our own.. give him long enough and he will be back.

I wouldn't be surprised if in the future he shows up in a TJ, YJ, or CJ forum... 😉

I think the same is true regarding the price of Wranglers. If you read this forum the Wrangler is over-priced but every other comparable vehicle is priced fine. That is simply not true. All vehicles have increased dramatically over the last few years. If you compare comparably equipped Wranglers to Broncos, Forerunners, Tacos the Wrangler is not out of line. Then start looking at the Ineos or Lexus offroad builds and it is even more evident that Wrangler is not uniquely high priced.

And the Wrangler still allows a range of builds from the factory to allow for lower priced entry up to crazy 100k+ 392 builds. And of course after market options are unlimited. Not many of the Wrangler competitors offer that.

But to the OP...drive what you want. You don't owe anybody an apology or reason.
The original '04 rubicon had a base price of $25,695. Adjusted for inflation that's $43k. That's about the starting price of a '24 rubicon and you get so much more vehicle for the money. Jeeps aren't more expensive, money isn't worth much these days.

I’ve had Jeeps for years (and before them IH Scouts). I have become ever more disenchanted as Jeeps have grown larger and more complex, while becoming more difficult to DIY repair. Medicore build quality, poor ride, and laughable “service” at dealerships combined with ludicrous pricing have taken the shine off the Apple. Buddy got a new Land Cruiser and frankly it’s nicer than anything Jeephas ever thrown together. I’m not into extreme rock crawling which is perhaps the only area Jeep will outperform the LC. It’s quieter, rides a Lot better, is much better built and has an actual dealer network that services them. Dunno if I’ll jump just yet or not but if I trade the JL off, I’m 99% sure it’ll NOT be for another Jeep
I just saw this thread- I am a jeep girl- 14 I believe since 1993. I don't drive one now. Both kids do- my guy does- but I'm all for comfort and all the "bells and whistles" these days. I will always be a jeep girl regardless of my current ride. I'm zipping around in a 2025 bmw x5 60i. Love the seats and the hp. You do you. A LC? I'm not sure about that. Never been a Toyota fan. I've had great convos on here abt non jeep vehicles. And I agree, the ride, the seats especially, are crap for the price points. When I get into my daughters 392 I question what I payed for. A jeep is a jeep.... but they are charging luxury prices without anything to back it up. I wish jeep offered a mall crawlers special interior bc honestly, the only off roading I did was over curbs and medians. If jeep wants to continue to be a "jeep" then the prices gotta match.

Maybe we've been lucky, but we've owned nearly a dozen Jeeps over the years from XJs, ZJs, WJs, TJs, JKs, JLs, and a JT. All were super reliable. Well over 200k miles on 2 XJs, a ZJ, and a WJ without more than a replacement starter or alternator. The only unreliable Jeep I've ever owned...an '86 XJ powered by a GM 2.8L v6. Not only was it an underpowered dog it was unreliable. I'll take any Jeep powertrain over that joint venture GM garbage. Our 2019 JLUR had 63k miles on it when stolen. Lifted, 38s, wheeled hard and roadtripped all across the country. Not a single issue. Our current 2022 xr on 39s has been more of the same for 36k miles. My JT mojave was on 37s by the 1,100 mile mark. Wheeled hard at freeway speeds in the desert and 24k trouble free miles to date. We wheel solo most of the time and there's not one other vehicle from any manufacturer I'd take out and flog like we do our Jeeps in locations facing 20+ mile walks should the vehicle fail.
Maybe you have been.
Everyone has different stories and experiences, but the key word is "statistically".

To be fair, you paid a very hefty premium for the 392 engine. A price that doesn't match the value you get for it. the 392 should have been about a $7-8k option at most. But, I believe Jeep priced them so high as to discourage more sales than they could keep up with.

As far as Toyota seats, I really dislike their vegan leather, or whatever they call it. I'll take real leather for the price. The only synthetic, leather-like material that has proven to be any good over the years is the Mercedes MB Tex. I had it in my old C280, good stuff.

I think your story is actually more common than people care to admit. I have had 4 Wranglers over the years and never had significant issues...I'm not saying they don't happen but just saying that forums like this tend to amplify them and you would think 90% of Wranglers on the road are problematic.

I think the same is true regarding the price of Wranglers. If you read this forum the Wrangler is over-priced but every other comparable vehicle is priced fine. That is simply not true. Quite common I'm sure. I've gone through an '01 XJ, '12 JK, and a '21 KL, still have the '22 JL and '24 JT. Of those the XJ had the 4.0 head flaw that I had to get a new head for and the JK had the cam phaser solenoids start sticking just enough to set off the CEL but without issues while running after 75k mi. Obviously the head issue on the 4.0 is the more serious of those, and ironically was with the engine that so many today idolize as being the golden age of Jeep engines. Each Jeep was or is my daily at some point. I have never NOT driven a Jeep as my day-to-day vehicle and have never been left stranded by one. Even the things I've broken on the trail did not prevent the Jeep from getting me to and from work.

Besides stupid piddly crap like broken visor mounts??? Mine was also gifted with a glitch that makes wipers turn on, all dummy lights light up, tranny won't go above 3rd gear, power steering cuts out and more. Dealer & I have thrown thousands at that & never fixed it. However it hasn't acted up in almost a year so maybe it "cured" itself. Regardless I've fallen quite hard for my Wrangler. Never thought I'd go off road but I have & grin ear to ear. I don't miss all the luxo SUV's I've driven over the years at all. Maybe I'm more of a Jeeper than I thought as I take the bad with the good & still love my Jeep. But if the love has gone for you definitely turn the page & get what makes you smile.
Happened in mine and i'm like "how the F does this break"? and it was in the passenger side which is used even less than the drivers side.

And when it breaks it defaults to a semi open position which is a pain in the ass to deal with. Luckily we have one of those alien sunshades so i put the bungee around the visor to keep it in a closed position.

Terrible visor design and quality, but my 2019 JL with 53K miles has been great and reliable, with only 2 issues, the visor and the lock/unlock button on the driver's door not working.

I’ve not left😳, I was just thinking about options. Jeeps remain a very unique vehicle. None of mine have had a back seat once they came home. They’ve hauled dog boxes with bird dogs, dead deer, fish, camping gear and assorted stuff to some interesting and beautiful spots, and the current one has been a Toad behind the MH for a lot of miles. Very few other vehicles could do or have done the same. The LC for example can’t be flat towed. I’m a fan but not so much that I can’t see the many flaws and drawbacks they pose. Oh well …

Eh, the constant "it's the cool thing to do to shit on Jeeps" gets annoying. 100%, shitty experiences can be, and for a good number of people, are part of the Jeep ownership experience. But the constant moaning gets tiresome, especially when folks climb up on a soapbox about it. So, expect a pendulum swing the other way every once in a while.

I am definitely a fan as well, we are looking at them in to replace our new Subaru. The Lexus GX550 is also a huge want but not for 85k.
