Ineos just opened a new dealership near me, so I stopped by to take a look and ended up test driving. Odd names but I think it was the Trail Master version, very nice Burgandy color with grey/white seats.

The fit and finish very nice on this vehicle, and the doors and rear gate all closed with a nice solid thunk. The seats are made by Recaro not much to say but they are extremely nice and comfortable. Interior is great for a button/gadget nerd and looks like an airplane console and there are a bunch of switches above your head too. The only thing thats odd is the BMW shifter since it uses a BMW 3 liter straight 6 and transmission.

On the exterior there are dozens of grab handles and places to attach ropes, bungies, etc, and has 2 manual Safari sunroofs in front. The rear door is a 80/20 split which is odd at first but works well. Its a heavy vehicle (I believe over 5k pounds) and the 3.0 doesn't feel under powered but not over powered either I'd say adequate for an off road vehicle (no problem keeping up with traffic) I believe MPG is 15/15 LOL!. Very smooth ride even over bumps reminds me a bit of driving a Gwagon, but as it has a solid axle in the front so steering corrections are necessary. I did like that they have both Diffs off centered on the same side, should make it much easier not to scrape.

Its not cheap, a well equipped one is mid $80s, but the quality is there and I believe it has a 6 year warranty to boot.

Worth taking a test drive.....

So who is better Jeep or the Ineos ?
Wouldn't that depend on intended use? I would think if you are rock crawling a Jeep but for extended overlanding the INEOS may be a better option. Either would suit my needs of moderate offroad and moderate amount of camping but I don't want to give up the roof off/doors off option so for me Jeep is better

Ya, the naked is one of my requirements. Not doing much trails currently but running naked as long as the temperature make it comfortable.

From what I observed, the Ineos is ready "out of the box" for overlanding it needs nothing except a tray/table for the tailgate. No need to add tons of accessories to get it there. Depends on what you are looking for, IMHO its a better alternative, but time will tell with reliability and customer service...

The Grenadier is very nice. I seriously considered one. However, the electronic nannies on it are over-the-top annoying and it’s not clear that Ineos has fully sorted all the electronics. They also saw a pretty steep ~$4,000 price increase for 2025.

They do look terrific in the new Devils Red color.

It's like a poor man's Range Rover, having said that if I had Range money I'd still buy this instead. I wouldn't mind having one of these in addition to a Jeep.

I've been a Jeep guy for over a decade now (young compared to many) but I'm selling my 2021 392 and buying the TrialMaster Grenadier. It's not a Jeep, but there are a lot of similar things. It will have random problems just like my Jeep, but I love the look of the old defenders. Plus I'm growing out of rock crawling and more into long range overlanding.

I would expect that the 3.0 liter BMW sourced inline 6 is smooth. I "hope" that when the wrangler eventually gets the hurricane I6 we get to enjoy a smooth powerful motor as well.

Enjoy! I got to play around in one at Expo and it felt terrific. What color?

We just bought a loaded, very capable Toyota Land Cruiser, those range from $56k - $76k, that's another competitor to Jeep... :)
